It is fantastic she debuted at #2 in America, that'll shut up the critics ;):p

How much did the album actually sell in the UK last week?

And Billboard just confirmed her US sales were slightly higher than HDD stated - 77,000! 'It's the highest entry for a female artist's full-length major label debut since Jackie Evancho's "Dream With Me" bowed at No. 2 on July 2, 2011.'.

That's 240,000+ from just 3 countries so far! With Germany of the main markets left to come

I presume we'll get news on a third single very soon I think it'll be between: Off to the Races, National Anthem, Dark Paradise and Blue Jeans

No Summertime Sadness? It will actually probably be Blue Jeans as she's already said she's shooting a video for it. But at the moment there's' no rush at all - her first 2 UK single releases are still both in the Top 20 (Video Games is in its 17th week on the Top 40!)

I suppose that too, to be honest I think every song on the album would make an interesting music video. Personally I really want National Anthem to be the third single, love it so much! And yeah both are doing very well and Born to Die is set for a second week at #1 :)

I think she should do a video for about every song! It paints a surreal painting in your mind anyway as an album.

I would love for National Anthem perhaps for a single next up! It would work this time of year definitely....Can also imagine Blue Jeans with loads of airplay too :)

She can do anything! Plus she is on trend for a second number 1 week!

I'm guessing you guys have already seen this, but seeing as I'm a huge Hunger Games Fan, this video is funny as hell to me! Sorry if it's already been posted.

Video Games made into Hunger Games. This girl does a good job of it! Her voice isn't that far off of LDR. :D

    Media Traffic

Lana Del Rey - Born To Die
    Stranger / Interscope - 327.000 - 1 week at No.1 - Hot Shot Debut

First album to knock Adele off the top in 2012! In fact, AFAIK, no debut album has managed it since '21' was released. Amazing when you consider she was virtually unknown 4/5 months ago.

It reminds me of when 19 was released and negative reviews and insubstantial slander then went on to slay go LDR never underestimate a woman :D

I love a lot of her magazine shots!

Does anyone else get kinda "grindhouse cinema" vibes about Born To Die as an album, those kinda retro vibes and melancholy, it provides a lot of kinda B-Movie kinda vibes. Maybe because i have been watching a lot and love my movies :D:D:D but it really does feel like that classic cinema, grainy kinda vibes on the album and with the imagery too.

I agree, many of the songs are cinematic and conjure up images of Hollywood in the old days. I'm sure if David Lynch re-made Twin Peaks a lot of Lana's songs would feature on the soundtrack. I don't care how scathing some of the reviews have been, I absolutely love the album and there really isn't anything remotely like it in the charts of today.

Well to put it in perspective. Born To Die is the best album of the year thus far! But also on its way up to becoming somthing of an overall favourite! And the critics aren't everything. The music speaks for itself at the end of the day and people have different tastes.

But Lana Del Rey is amazing and the album is such a dark beauty!
