In hospital with suspected broken jaw and rib after being attacked.

Does this means he won't be able to speak for a while?

Anyway regardless no one deserves to be seriously assaulted so I hope he gets better soon.

Apparently by someone (pro-Israel, presumably) who took exception to his reported recent remarks.

Although to put it mildly I cannot stand Galloway, such behaviour is horrible and will just make him even more angrier and anti Israel.

I wish him a speedy recovery in any case.

    Hope so.:)

He'll somehow manage to blame Israel for it.

I believe a man's been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm

After years of trying to stir up racial tensions it was
bound to happen. Some might call it karma.

Controversial Respect MP George Galloway has been taken to hospital for treatment to a suspected broken jaw after he was attacked in the street, his spokesman said.

Mr Galloway, who has also suffered a suspected broken rib and severe bruising to his face and head, was posing for pictures with people in Golborne Road, Notting Hill, west London, when a man shouted a comment about the Holocaust and attacked him, according to the spokesman.

Oh it is. Anyone else who came out with half of the offensive BS he has over the years would have found themselves in a sticky situation long ago.

An elected MP. Imagine the knee jerk reaction if it had been Farage with a broken jaw. Or indeed any other MP.

    (is not a Galloway fan)

Not a huge fan of George Galloway but nobody deserves to be attacked in this way. I hope the coward who perpetrated this crime is punished severely.

    He's a "coward?"
You were there and witnessed it... or perhaps you believe Galloway's spokesperson without even hearing the other side?
    Guilty without trial eh?

So you do not condemn the cowardly assault? Wow, that is a low even for the politics section! There were seemingly plenty of witnesses so the truth will out. Obviously due legal process has to be followed but there is never any excuse for hitting another person and anybody found guilty should have the book thrown at them (not literally!).

How can you call it cowardly when you don't know the full facts? And you being such a stickler for facts, figures and statistics.

I've never understood why an attacker is called a "coward". Surely cowards are people (like me) who would run away from a fight and not walk up to someone in the street to punch them.

I can't stand Galloway but even he doesn't deserve this to happen to him.

As a slight pedant I agree. Never understood that use of language.

Presumably it's more about trying to make the victim feel better.

Anyway, I rather like Galloway. Hope he gets well soon. It's terrible this has happened though, especially to an elected MP.

I condemn all violence. It is a great shame that some others seemingly do not.

I don't know what happened and neither do you.
Were you there are or are you just accepting the accounts of Galloway supporters?

Your language suggests you've decided, without trial, that someone is guilty.
    Pathetic!
There is actually an excuse for hitting another person...it's called self-defence!
You're obviously well out of your depth on these type of issues.
