ED Laurel storyline twist?
We were told that Laurel's alcohol story would go in a surprising different direction than just a normal alcoholic story. I just wonder if that's happened yet given tonight's episode (which isn't really that different), or has it still to happen? And if it is still to happen, what could this be?

What? How will she do that?
She's done it.
She left the door open so Daisy got out and then hit her with the car whilst drunk driving.
That's pretty much the "go to" storyline for people with addictions. I'd like Lauren's storyline to keep its originality.
That's what I think. Ok,. she's quite a nasty drunk, but that's hardly an earth shattering 'new direction' for an alcohol story.
We're not even half way through the storyline yet. Why don't you just wait and see what happens?
I can't see Ashley allowing that to happen whilst she is still seriously under the influence of her addiction, but I think if he is the one to give her the help and support she needs break it, they may find themselves falling for one another throughout her recovery.
I am absolutely against the idea of Laurel turning to prostitution and as much as I LOVE this story, I couldn't stomach seeing that happen. I'm hopeful that this storyline will take an original turn, and keep me as engrossed as I have been so far.
I think some people are impatient and want everything now rather than waiting and seeing. That was one good thing about life before the internet, social media etc - you just watched the programmes to see what happened.
Has any other drunk in soap killed their partner's dog while drink driving (while banned from driving because of a drink/driving charge) and tried to bury said dog without said partner knowing? I'd say that's quite a new direction.
I see what you mean. But I think of her killing the dog more as an unexpected event, than an original direction. Maybe I've read too much in to the initial teasers.
And we are on a soaps forum to discuss soaps, hardly the place to be banging on about times gone by pre-internet.
The reason I mentioned times gone by pre-internet was to illustrate my point about some people being impatient and wanting everything now rather than waiting to see what happens. Unfortunately life isn't like that - I wish it was!
Yeah, I'll never forget the time Phil Mitchell became an escort to fund his drug addiction.
Phil the rent boy?!
I think a little bit of sick just came up
You say that but he used to sleep with Rainie patly to get her to share her drugs and shirley plied him with alcohol to get sex too.
It's certainly a possibility, we did have Holly Barton turn to smack not so long ago....but I have to admit, villages like Emmerdale are pretty far removed from a heavy drug scene, and IIRC Holly found herself 'in those circles' by spending time in Leeds.
Laurel might be introduced to that lifestyle if she were to find herself homeless etc, but I'm hopeful we won't see her go down that route
