Is that why they cause near death experiences for many pedestrians?

    Yawn!

Care to put a figure on that and then compare it with all other road traffic in, say, a 12 month period?

Not all of them. Some truly are dumb and have serious death wishes.

No, proper sports people, not the mobile chicane 'man on a bike'.
Nearly a quarter of people in the study (23 per cent) said they would prefer to date a cyclist over other sporting people. More than one in four (27 per cent) would also want a cyclist on their pub quiz team, but only 18 per cent would trust the trivia skills of a footballer.

Meanwhile, almost half (48 per cent) of people said they were more attracted to sports people than celebrities.

Your title and what the actual article says don't match up at all.

The 'study' is about perception, not what may actually be the case.
