Gamepad

I've been running a game for a PC from a keyboard and mouse. When I tried plugging a joystick into it, for some actions none of the various buttons or movements seemed to work (and the keyboard and mouse were completely disabled).

Would a gamepad (or controller) be what it's looking for? However this only has buttons numbered 1 to 4, while at one point it was asking for button 6 to be pressed.

    Which game?

It's Toy Story 3. (Obviously, it's the kids who play it, not me..)

The 360 gamepad for Windows works on most games for Steam and I've had few problems though some games still respond better to keyboard ;)

The 360 (wired) pad for Windows is the default gamepad expected by most PC games.

You can also now use the Xbox One pad with a wired connection as well.

Yes the wired 360 controller works faultless, but get an official one.
