I saw it tonight and I thought it was great! Not perfect, but few films are...I love it for what it is though. Also glad I saw it in the cinema (I avoid cinemas these days) as it really is a big screen movie.
Can't wait until the DVD release!
WAHOOOO!!! glad you loved it...i cannot wait to see it again too....rewatch the trilogy endlessly!!
The film has just grossed over 600 million. Stunning for a 2D film in 3 weeks that isn't even released everywhere yet and was also banned in China. Looking very good for crossing the billion mark.
YEAHS!! go batman!!! and yeah i really think so...if thats the two week total...bring it on!!!!!
I'm sure it'll be the same clips that are used over & over again.
yeah i hate it when they do that but i guess the most spoiler free will be shown all the time...let us know how it was....those that dont have sky anyway lol.
Saw it for the second time yesterday. Unexpectedly (as I had no real complaints anyway) it was even better second time around! I could appreciate details and parallels I missed at first. I've seen it referred to as being bloated but when you know the big plot points and twists it becomes an example of dense, expert storytelling. Even more so if you watch Batman Begins afterwards, with tremendous interlocking of the plots so the earlier film gets a satisfying sense of completeness, the same lines being spoken by different characters so meanings for the later one develop, and so on. An achievement.
And I saw it on an IMAX 15/70 screen. For the record, in the UK these are in London (x2), Manchester, Bradford and Glasgow. What a difference from a digital IMAX! It has you pinned in your seat for every IMAX frame. The reasons for this are explained here.
Don't get me wrong, even the digital IMAX is excellent and well worth the extra IMHO. But this is something else. No wonder Nolan is so keen on it. If you have a choice, go 15/70!
It's a shame there's a few people disappointed by this movie. I thought it was really awesome. Sure, as usual, the second act is dragged out a little too much, as with BB and TDK.
Still, for me, the spiritual side of the Batman "world" has been served brilliantly. Bruce's liberation from the symbol of Batman, and ultimately his nightmare brought me to tears as the credits rolled. Alfred was given a happy retirement and Gordon and Fox figured out that Bruce was still alive which brought me great relief.
The only part that saddened me was the implication that Alfred and Bruce never speak to each other again.
I'd place it in the 7 to 8 out of 10 range. Performances were solid to excellent, with the exception of Marion Cotillard who I thought was poor. Maybe it was the character. Hathaway was pretty good and looked superb. The best scenes were the opening, the stock exchange and climax. Special effects were top class and the inclusion of social injustice was interesting.
The villain was intimidating yet very one dimensional James Bond esque.
My main problem that despite being nearly 3 hours they tried to fit too much in, leading to too many questions. Still prefer Batman Begins and Dark Knight. It was ambitious in its plans, yet with a PG-13 rating had a strange balance between bloodless violence and a heck of a lot of deaths. Also had a strange balance between superhero family film and realistic urban war movie.
Seemed more forced to top what the other films, which work as stand alone movies, had done.

WOW
In my job I've seen a few DIY cinemas in houses that are pretty cool, but this one tops the lot.
