I'd give Lost a go. Don't feel you have to watch it all in one go - I'd pick up the first season as it really is sublime and I reckon you'd be hooked pretty quickly.
The first twelve episodes aren't that great- in fact it isn't until season two that it really gets going
wow..thanks for the all the suggestions everybody..
I decided to watch the pilot for White Collar..
i'm hooked already - seriously!
pity i've only 10 episodes to watch though..
I'll probably be back on here looking at some more suggestions this time next week!

Cool, I'm going to wait for the season to end before watching that. Seems you came for suggestions and ended up inspiring others
Busy getting started on Charlie Jade at the moment on top of my usual shows and saved copies of documentaries on Time
You should watch the first 4 episodes of lost. i watched the pilot ages ago and never bothered to watch anymore but a couple of months later i thought id give another couple of episodes a try, after 'walkabout' i was hooked. Terry o quinn is a legend!

It's fun, isn't it? And you've got one more to watch, the lastest episode aired last night
Being Human,i dont know how you`ve missed it!
There isnt a better looking vampire on film or tv than Aidan Quinn [inc Rpatts]I really think this is the only show the BBBoringC currently has that is worth watching.
I also recommend Mad Men and OZ,although both being a bit of an aquired taste esp` OZ being a prison drama and it ended a few years ago so you would have buy the boxed sets to get into it,6 seasons of them![check out law`n`order to see what you think of chris meloni:)

I'd recommend Life on Mars too. It is the best UK TV show ever, as far as I'm concerned. 16 fantastic hours of television.
