Old news to some, but only just heard about this

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/a456938/theo-paphitis-to-leave-dragons-den-thank-you-auntie-im-out.html

Tragic news - Are we seeing the final days of Dragons Den? Or is a shake up needed to bring the show back to life for a few more years?

I'm guessing the next series will be Deborah Meaden's last, without her investment partner.

They have already signed up Kelly Hoppen to replace Hilary http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kelly_Hoppen

Who would you like to see replace Theo?

I say bring Richard Farleigh back, or Simon Woodward from series one. James Caan was good, as was Doug Richards.

There is a suggestion that Innocence drinks founder Richard Reed may replace him. Out of the past Dragons I would prefer Richard Farleigh to come back. He was always positive and enthusiastic about people's ideas, especially if they were inventions or technological based. He used to fund a lot of student projects for undergraduates and post graduates. I did not like Doug Richie, he hardly ever made any offers to any pitchers.

I saw in the press that they were trying to get Michelle Mone on board.

Yep - she declared herself out as the last series began....

Felt about sorry for her anyways - she'd offer far better deals to try and win an investment, but they'd always go for someone like Peter, or Theo, even if the price was much higher - embarrassing really.

    it's has its day.

Could be true - it is a bit glorified these days - after about 8 years, pitchers know the format too well. The early days were better, especially series one, as nobody knew what they were walking in to - the fear, the trembling, and shakes from that series were priceless :o

I've been a fan for a few years, but I got bored of it during the last series and stopped watching.

It just seems tired and predictable now and there's no fun to it anymore. I used to enjoy the nutters with their crazy inventions, like the old guy with his exercise armchair, but you rarely see anything like that.

You can almost predict exactly what each dragon is going to say and I'm fed up of hearing lines such as:

"Let me tell you where I am"

"You want me to give you 100,000 of my kids' inheritance etc"

"What does the business look like"

Blah blah blah, same old, same old.

    It's had its day.

The whole show has gone very stale, can't stand the presenter, the BBC seem to have this fascination with not letting the viewers actually watch the programme, but instead, insist in letting idiots explain things to the viewer which we already know, or don't care about. The last couple of series seem more about embarrassing the people than actually offering any practical advice. If the people are that bad, they shouldn't be allowed on the programme in the first place, so I blame the researchers to a large extent.

Way past it's best, not helped by poor editing - there are far fewer pitches per episode these days and not as many truly wacky ideas. I got totally sick of the last pitch ALWAYS getting investment, so much so that I usually turned off with 20 minutes to go

Having been a 'never missed an episode' fan of the show i'm inclined to agree. :( I think it's too old hat now. The people who go on it know exactly what to expect.. usually know exactly which dragon they want to invest in them and it's just a tired format. And as for Evan ruining every moment of tension with spoilers...

Plus it was never the same since they axed the original theme tune.

And the final word on the subject goes to Theo: "I'm out"

Yeh very stale - the editors seem obsessed with explaining basic concepts to us twice which gets mildly infuriating halfway in.........

Shark Tank much better - the billionaire guy on that is hilarious but whilst staged a lot it does at least seem a lot more realistic about how they would actually go into business together.
