I am not overly concerned about this at Parkys time of life. We all have to go at an advanced age by some means or another.

Prostate cancer is one of the most survivable forms so it doesn't sound like he's anywhere near the stage you are describing. Almost 70% of sufferers are still alive 10 years after diagnosis
Parkinson did the best ever chat show but I thought he was quite lucky to get a knighthood for it. I wouldn't call that sort of thing outstanding service to the country - we seem to have lost the plot somewhat. I've also lost a lot of respect for him since he started using his good name to flog very dubious insurance plans. I don't wish him poor health but he's certainly gone down in my estimation since his knighthood rather than up. Still, he did provide me for the first time in my life with an opportunity to agree with something written in the Mail:

I agree, I am sure no-one is wishing Parky ill but for goodness sake, a healthy life then to get ill at 78 is still pretty good going and not exactly the greatest tragedy in the world. I lost both my parents in their early 60's and haven't had any grandparents since I was about 10.
That's not true. A saw an old dear on Watchdog who said she went off him big time after being conned into the Over 50 Plan. I'm sure she'll be pleased to see the back of him.
Apparently, about 90% of men in their 80s have prostate cancer, but it is so slow to develop, very treatable and controllable that it isn't as big an issue as it first sounds (as long as you go to the Dr. and get it seen to of course).

I am 78 and don't feel old, if you are in good health it is only a number. I am just off to the gym for my usual two hour workout for the fourth time this week, and I completed the London Marathon in April.

I think Billy Connelly was diagnosed fairly recently so I'll have to google to see if there is any news about him.
Maybe I've had a sense of humour by-pass today but not one of the 'jokes' about funeral plans, insurance plans etc amused me even slightly. In fact they actually annoyed me intensely.

So did my grandfather, but he also had other health issues ad it wasn't the cancer that killed him in the end.
So many men seem to fall victim to prostate cancer. It's upsetting.
