If by "home broadband connection", you mean a land-line, then no, I don't.

I use a Mobile Broadband Dongle instead.

    Thats what I meant.

I'm surprised, because you're the sort of person I would put down as a heavy internet downloader. ;):D

You just need a phone line. So why is that more expensive than a dongle?

    What does line rental cost?

    £14-99 pm?

Then you have the BB itself, on top of that.

My Dongle cost me £15 pm, to top-up.

So why people are paying upwards of £15pm for 3gb baffles me when I pay less than that for unlimited broadband and line rental as well inc international/premium rate calls

    Anonymity perhaps?

I'm with TalkTalk and we get BB, line rental and most phone calls included in the monthly price which, if I remember right is about £25 a month, so it's not that expensive

Useful having a landline for people to phone you on though. And for us heavy downloaders, can you imagine the monthly costs if you regularly used over 50gb in bandwidth?

I use a payg Dongle, suits us fine, i'm not a downloader of tons of movies or music. No landline either, no cold-calling etc etc. No need for me to pay £15 or so per month to rent a landline that won't get used, we both have mobile phones. Each to their own.
