Polish factory likely to be sold to TP Vision of Taiwan and a licence awarded to TP Vision to use the Sharp brand. This reflects a similar deal which Philips did with TP Vision.
Sharp is also considered likely to licence its brand to Vestel for white goods.

Sharp/Toshiba's marketing strategy of selling badge-engineered cheap TVs at the low end, and continuing manufacturing at the high end didn't help -- it just earns the company a reputation for unreliability that feeds through to their more expensive product.
The 'quality' end of the TV market is essentially dead now anyway -- when cheap TVs have full-HD screens this is enough for most consumers -- things like 4K will never be a mainstream premium sell as most end users can't tell the difference between 720p and 1080p in the first place.
