Steve Allen is so nasty and vicious and then, the funny thing is, when he goes on In Conversation he's all sweetness and light.

He always reminds me of Stewie Griffin off Family Guy. Imagine it's Stewie when Steve's on next! :)

    A coward.

He's so loathsome though. I used to listen to him but now I can't because it's not long before he comes out with something nasty. He fails to see anyone else's point but his own and his own opinions have a common denominator: self interest.

    Quite true.

HBlock are you a fan of Queen Bea by any chance?

Steve Allen this morning related a very distressing incident that happened to him in a cake shop recently. He bought four cream cakes in Gregg's and the boy behind the counter put them in a paper bag! After SA told him to put them in a box, the boy did so but he failed to put any string around the box! Really, ladies and gentlemen, what has become of customer service!

That happened to me too. I know there are much more important things in the world, but I found it irritating - my cakes were all squished at the bottom! Oh dear, am I becoming like him!

Every time I tune in to Nick Abbott's show he is having a go at UKIP. When people complained previously he said he had a go at all parties. Not to the same extent he doesn't. It's almost like he has some personal grudge against Farage.
Drone on Nick I'm switching you off. You never used to be boring, bigotted and predictable. :(

It is irritating isn't it. I had to switch over last night. I thought 'here we go again'. And if anyone tries to argue with him, he just sneers at them. I used to like him, but now I am finding him rather stupid. What does he do when he's not on LBC? He just seems to sit around his house doing nothing.

Oh not this old chestnut again, and in the middle of the night too! Glad I fell asleep.

Most of the programme was devoted to older people recalling their memories of London in the war. They were about a hundred times more interesting than the average political caller. I thought he coped with it all very well.

    Credit where credit's due.

Cristo and his programme have been excellent tonight. :)

I feel sorry for him. He gets a lot of DS critics but he does do varied shows. Tonight he started with 4 very different subjects and none of them the ones he is complained about doing. I didn't listen though as I was really trying to get to sleep! Not even "amazing radio" could send me off... my own fault for having 2 nights in a row where I got 11 hours hehehe

When it's not UKIP he's constantly sneering at the royal family and trotting out rubbish about them and when people point out the facts about their tax, money, crown estates etc he just ignores them. I turn him off virtually every time he's on now. Conversation's one thing, sneering at everyone who disagrees with you is something else.

Funny you should bring this up. No need reminding. He doesn't only sound like Stewie, I always felt he looked like him as well. It's freaky.

    It must be contagious!

I went to the trouble of carefully placing my croissants and iced doughnuts (from my local Lidl, delicious and only 29p each!) in their bags, folding them up and keeping them apart from everything else, only to have the 'assistant' roughly dump them on the counter, all upside down.

I don't know what has happened to NA! I used to enjoy his banter and he was a favourite of mine. He has become very rude and demeaning to his callers. What used to be banter with his callers is now insulting and bias. He has to be proven right a bit like JOB. His personal attacks on Nigel Farage is way over the top and is again getting like JOB's obsession with anything concerning Nigel and UKIP. Along with JOB he is now someone I am unable to listen to. He has said on occasions that he does not like to be around people and comes across as quite an unsociable person on the outside. Maybe this is why it is coming through with his presenting.

Tesco home delivery take a lot of beating when it comes to idiot packing. Biscuits and tea turn up in the same bag as soap powder. Some bags are filled to bursting while at other times each item gets its own bag! I dread to think how much that will cost when they start charging for bags. But at least, after a very messy delivery, they've started double bagging the eggs! :o

    Sorry - off topic.

    Morning all. :)

Afraid I'm becoming of the same opinion. I have not listened to him much in the last few weeks, and have also changed channels, when previously I couldn't wait to hear him.

Nick is coming over as very cold and distant these days.

I never thought that LBC would part me from my two favourite presenters, Nick and Clive, for I blame the station and its seriousness for changing them.

Good on him :). I guess the breastfeeding topic didn't last long. I mentioned it because other presenters can take up to an hour or more droning on about this;- a much churned out topic.

Agreed. I found it particularly interesting listening to that lady describing a story from when she was 12 being bombed by a V2 rocket in Wandsworth in 1944, then finding lots of dead cats and dogs which they buried in the crater.

My dad is 78 and has similar stories from living in Crouch End. I still have memories of my brother and I as young kids playing in the old Anderson shelter our grandparents still had at the foot of their garden 30 odd years later.

For what it's worth I think NA is bored stiff. He has said his job is just a means of earning a living, a patronising remark I thought, to say to listeners. The unvarying range of political topics on LBC won't help either. Woefully uninspiring for presenters who like a free rein to enjoy a bit of creativity. Both Nick and Clive's shows have suffered as a consequence, any natural spontaneity which they once had has become stifled, imo. :(

Very much so - then again Ferrari could walk into many jobs . Lord Bri of Ampleforth is a bit more stuck .A firing from LBC could very much result in forced trips to Butlins , as opposed to publicity stunts to boost his socialist gravitas ,He's not exactly sort after...and his comedy enterprise is hardly Live at the Apollo material.
