Hang on, are you saying I'm the one being confrontational?
Yes . I think you were . People were entitled to an opinion as to how the thread came across . I still think its a subtle dig if I am honest , despite the !!!!
Its how little rumours start
I'm usually the one being called reasonable and I have never even tried to be confrontational. As it's a first for me, it's a bit of a shock (might share it though ).

No worries . Oh dont fret about it , we all get our knickers in a twist now and then ! I know I do !!
Did anyone else hear him say "perfection" to Janette when the dance finished (not just once, but twice)? Imagine Natalie or Denise had said that? They would have got an absolute battering on here.
He has definitely had dance training that's plain to see. It's week 2 and he's getting 9s Pixie too. I prefer they would be honest. I don't want Frankie, Pixie or Jake to win. It's the same every year the public always vote the ringers out.
Could we please get the difference between Anna Scher's theatre school and the likes of Sylvia Young sorted out? The first was more of an after-school club to help kids in the East End get some sort of taste for drama, the second was designed to produce all-singing, all-dancing professional performers.
Not making any judgements on the purposes of either, just annoyed at them being lumped in together here.
Do some people really believe that it's not possible to be a good dancer without some kind of training?
Rhythm, timing,'good hips', confidence etc are things that you've either got or haven't got. Technique and steps are what can be taught, and that's what the SCD professionals are there for.
Every time there's a contestant on Strictly who can dance a bit they're a ringer.
It's tiresome.
I do get what the OP is saying, though; that the women get this accusation more than the men. But that might just be because we've had more naturally talented women than men.

I think that's a fair comment. Pauline Quirke who went to Anna Scher now runs organises something similar all over England with weekend classes (Pauline Quirke Performing Arts Academy). The classes near me are popular.
Like the Charleston for Sophie EB last year, it could turn out to be his best dance - Janette is a Salsa specialist.
Loved the dance and glad that they got to do the Salsa - although in a few weeks, it could probably have been even better.
Janette has a chance to show what she can do and its a big test for her to have someone with a lot of potential. So far she's doing OK.

Battering? Any woman that had said that would be dragged over hot fire and called a witch. The venom would be endless and this forum would implode with the sheer weight of trembling rage at a woman being confident of the performance she produced.
A man says it and no one turns their head.
A considerable amount of the responders didn't even bother to read the OP, then blame the thread author because they never paid attention! Lol.
You got to love DS. It's why I come, the comedy is epic.
I was under the assumption that there was no level playing field with SCD and people started at different levels. If it annoys certain people and they cant get their heads round it go and watch that dire Stepping Out that was on last year.
And look at some of the people that have won, they are usually people that have got better throughout the series - not necessarily someone that is wonderful every week.
I am not an East Enders or Jake fan. No way can someone who has very little dance experience give that level of performance. Poor Denise and Natalie got so much stick on these forums and yet Jake is let off.
So sad how some people will attempt to find any negatives rather than simply enjoying something.
Comparing the Anna Scher school to Italian Conti,Sylvia Young or any other similar school is laughable.Anna Scher was set up as a charitable concern to teach youngsters drama after school. You only have to drive past the place on Barnsbury Road to see the difference between them.
As for Jake saying "perfection" (twice),the audio is so muffled that it's impossible to tell what he actually said....even if he did say it,so what? It was a fantastic performance and he deserved to be pleased and excited about it.
I've replayed the ending of the Dance x4 and couldn't make out what he was saying, but it didn't sound like perfection.
Can't believe the reaction to the OP, tbh. Even IF Jake Wood has had previous dance experience, it's not his profession, vocation or hobby. By all accounts, he doesn't dance at weddings.
I am a civil servant, but I studied Chemistry at school. That doesn't mean I am a ringer scientist, does it? I might know a bit about the periodic table, but that's it.
I genuinely thought this thread was started as a joke ? He may have gone to stage school or whatever, but most actors will have done the same. They get the basics to prepare them for the future, but has he ever appeared in any musicals ? It's not at all like Denise Van Outen who was a West End/Broadway star.

Yes, go on iPlayer and plug your headphones in if you can't hear it through the speaker - it's as clear as anything. It's right after the dance finishes.

Funny how those who bashed Denise and/or Natalie couldn't just enjoy their routines, isn't it? Now it's a bloke, though, woah, stop right there, people - just enjoy it for what it is, don't dare attempt to treat a male ringer the way we do a female on here.
It's not muffled at all. Like I said to the poster above, go on iPlayer and watch with headphones if you have to - it's as clear as anything. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with Jake saying this. It was "perfection", I enjoyed it, he surprised me and I like him. I'm just pointing out the obvious at everyone on this board with their complete double standards. The likes of Denise and Natalie would never get away with stating their routine was "perfection" - ever.
I am pleased Janette has someone good this year, so people can see what she can actually do more. A lot of the cheering in their routine was for her incredible, back breaking moves!
I hope next year, if she comes back, Joanne has someone with an ounce of ability.

Well said.

Not everyone has double standards. I dont like the word ringer for anyone male or female. I like seeing the good dances and don't care if they've had previous dance experience or not.

It is muffled.I've listened to it a dozen times and still can't make out what he said.
As I said, why are you desperately searching for reasons to bring him down? Justifying it by saying previous women have endured the same is ridiculous....chill out and enjoy it,don't stoop to others levels.

I believe that without Anna Scher it would be impossible to cast Eastenders...:D:D
On a serious note, Anna Scher (and Pauline Quirke) have worked tirelessly to change lives, hurrah for them!
And I agree with the OP, society (and this forum) is far harder on women than men.

What makes you think that? Frankie's dad is actually a London cabbie.

No, but it's the start of a new series, so I'll watch what I say a bit more to avoid misunderstandings.
