Not again please!! things don't look bad at all between them, it's the same with others some days as well. I thought they were wonderful tonight and they deal with each other well. They are a good team don't drag things up again.

I imagine he's got the point that the judges aren't going to mark them highly whatever they do, especially in Latin, so he's trying to appeal to the public to keep them out of the bottom two.

i don't happen to think they are a particularly successful or well suited pair. so there.
I preferred Laila's Paso - even taking Ali's sore foot into consideration the whole feel of her dance last week was wrong.
As an actress, she should have been able to portray the passion and aggression more.
I'm a bit disappointed in Anton putting in the lifts though - he should know better?
Probably not but Ali's was more polished. I'd have put Laila & Anton above Natalie & Vincent on the leader board though.
Laila's was vastly simpler but she had better suited music to what people expected and her outfit and the choice of colours was also more obviously linked to what she was doing. She looked the part before she started acting it.Ali looked like some other plot and her choreography and music took her there. You probably can't be too obvious given what some people will expect, the pitfalls of getting subtler or unsuitable l music and how little the camera shows.
She's just had more practice - having done extensive ballet training in the past.
If Laila had had as much experience, I bet she'd be just as good.

I absolutely loved it - the Paso is one of my favourite dances. Anton and Laila looked superb (dark colours, particularly red and black, always look great) and the choreography was spot on. Brilliant. I just loved it.

She revealed she was a trained ballerina herself and she felt Ali was as well from the way she moved.
I reckon Ali's done a fair bit of ballet in the past. I don't hold it against her though - but it undoubtedly helps her perform better.

I agree with you about the dress and the music although it was paso music. The pros are limited in what they can choose. There was nothing wrong with the choreography but agree that the dance as a whole was probably too subtle for many viewers. At least the camera is showing the dancers feet this year so we actually see some of the faults the dancers are making.

All I've seen cited as evidence in other threads is a Mirror article that spun stage school as a specialist dance school; and even it only said:
The actress, now 26, went to stage school for three years from the age of 10 where she was taught dance instead of sports and gym.
She also had ballet lessons for several years as a child.
I'm not bothered by Ali's ballet training - extensive or not. I just wish I could find her and Brian more engaging, but I don't.
Give the poisonous effect that claims about prior training have on how people think of SCD contestants, I think any such claims should be based on solid evidence.
So if anyone has anything beyond Sara Cawood's or someone else's opinion that Ali had "extensive training" or "ballet right through her teens", or anything else of that sort, let's have it.
Otherwise, I think they should stop making it sound like it's something we actually know.
You can have an opinion SId , BUT to say she has extensive training based on nothing will draw disscussion .
The only one who qualifies for " extensive training " is Jade , in the long jump

If you're going to use Sara Cawood as your authority, then you should find a checkable source for what she actually said. Otherise, it's just an opinion of a memory of someone else's opinion.

Just as someone like Len can guage the level of training an individual has had in Ballroom or Latin dancing, I assume someone who is a trained ballerina can do the same when it comes to spotting whether someone has had experience in ballet.
I'm not suggesting it's a fact, but I do take into consideration what Sara had to say because I respect her judgement as a trained bellerina herself.
I doubt it will affect her chances. Prior experience didn't harm Jill after all.
