Heavy Metal Lover by Lady Gaga

What is everyones opinion on this song? It was voted the best song of 2011, and half a million people voted for it. What do you think of the success it would of had as a single.

Here's the link to the song- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyN5157_Xos
The chorus starts at around 1:13

I find this to be one of Gaga's strongest songs and its a very catchy one too!

Brilliant song, catchy chorus without words being spoken (or sung) :p

Interestingly enough, the beat is actually 'born this way' revamped and reworked to be deeper and 'for the clubs'

That's the beauty of forums isn't it. We don't all share the same likes.

I love it should have been a single in my opinion so many unused options on BTW.

'born this way' was a great album but had too many tracks to be appreciated fully. Some tracks were distracting. The track listing was not well chosen. This was one of my faves on the album but it became a fave after many listens to the album. Not many causal fans or newbies would discover it so readily.

something similar to ~ works better for me - it just has better cohesion

    1. The Queen
    2. Born this Way
    3. Mary the Night
    4. Judas
    5. Bloody Mary
    5. Hair
    6. Scheisse
    7. Government Hooker
    8. Heavy Metal Lover
    9. Highway Unicorn
    10. Edge of Glory

and yes i have cut some of my fave tracks as they didn't fit the album 'americano'; 'fashion of his love', 'bad kids' 'black jesus;...and strangely they could have fit on an 'art pop' album with some of the tracks.

    Its a brilliant song!!
Still love it to this day.
Schiebe and Heavy Metal Lover are just sterling pieces of work for album tracks from a pop artist.
Gaga is one of a kind

It was a standout favourite of mine from the minute I heard the album. Some of them took a while to grow (Bad Kids, Black Jesus, You and I) and took a few listens, but the likes of Hair, Scheiße and Heavy Metal Lover were just instant. All 3 should have been singles.

Surely the poster who says it's the worst song she's ever recorded hasn't heard 'Jewels and Drugs'. Oh my - THAT is the worst song she's ever recorded! :D

i don't love it. or like it really. it worked well as an opener at the born this way ball tho. some songs are made for that kinda thing.

Love HML. It is such a fan favourite too. Definitely my favourite Lady GaGa song after Bad Kids.

It's so catchy. When I first got the album, that was the song that was stuck in my head and I'd listen to first, that and 'Schiesse' (because even though we had a mugler teaser thingy months before the album, I was blown away by the chorus of 'schiesse', brilliant)

I can't stand that song. I don't know how that mess made ARTPOP. I'm sure there were better songs recorded for it than that.

I haven't seen it live but from what I saw on youtube it started as Highway Unicorn and then mixed into Heavy Metal Lover

I didn't like much of BTW but this track was one of the standouts for me, I adore the more laid back electronic production.

HML came much later in the set, probably about an hour in. Highway Unicorn segued in to Government Hooker.

Really like HML's production, a highlight of the album for me.

I have always said that Gaga has always made lots of effort with production for her songs. Just download the fame/TFM/BTW and ARTPOP instrumentals to hear proof. They're very detailed and there are lots of underlying sounds that really require a hard listen, the vocals just compliment it tbh.

I think some of her best production are (and I mean instrumentals mainly)
    -Poker Face
-Lovegame (surprisingly, the instrumental has a great beat)
    -Dance In The Dark
    -Teeth
    -Monster (brilliant for clubs)
    -Schiesse
    -Heavy Metal Lover
-Electric Chapel (LOVE the 'tin can' chant)
    -Aura
    -Sexxx Dreams
    -Mary Jane Holland
