Hdmi connections

I have just ordered a hdtv it will be delivered around the 4th of sept.Included is a dvd player that has hdmi.I already have a toshiba d-r3sb dvd-ram recorder so I was wondering if anyone knows if I could use that in conjunction with the hdmi socket on the hdtv.I have read the dvd recorder instructions and cant see if I can connect.

    If you have no hdmi socket on the dvd recorder you can't use hdmi. If it has component connections these should improve the picture a bit for you.
    If the new dvd player has hd-upscaling, why not run that as your film playback device only and still use the dvd recorder for decording only?
