I had all four out under general anesthetic and had to stay overnight in hospital and had the next day off feeling groggy so it wasn't like a normal extraction for me.
Any smokers reading this please note you must NOT smoke for several days after having an extraction. If you do you will end up with an excrutiatingly painful condition called a Dry Socket. This can last for several weeks.
Dry socket can be a problem for non smokers too
Its to do with the clot not forming or being dislodged . I agree its the most awful pain but should not last weeks as the dentist will pack it if you go back to him
