Ipod wont sync

Bit of strange one but here goes
Just done master reset and put all tunes on iPod no problem but when came to do just one it just says stage 5 waiting for changes , and then goes back to apple without DL tunes
Checked settings and they seem OK ,
Anybody help
Its a 5th gen BTW 32gb
