Does anyone else agree that 2003-2005 was a great era for dance music? I've been listening to a lot of my favourite tunes from that time and all of the dance music was brilliant, music that everybody loved. It's a shame that there's nothing like that kind of music today and even dance music of today is nothing like it used to be. What was your favourite dance song from that era?
Here's some of mine!
Boogie Pimps - Somebody to Love - http://youtu.be/t6HSlZBNwUQ
Sunset Strippers - Falling Stars - http://youtu.be/2c1Y34vgrI8
Uniting Nations - Out of Touch - http://youtu.be/w-Xz8aLuD7Y
Joey Negro - Make a Move on Me - http://youtu.be/aYWcuD77lwo
Eric Prydz - Call on Me - http://youtu.be/L_fCqg92qks

erm... not me! those tracks were some of the crappiest dance tracks of that era.
sorry.
^ yup what is said above here, actually may have to stretch that to about early 90's on wards till 1999....but im an old bugger....
Awful songs. Dance music is far more than this rubbish.
you can say that though for any era.... a club plays a track, good or bad, people will dance to it. all you need is the beat.
but there are good and bad dance tracks, leaving aside the beat. the 'good' tracks are those which are original, push the boundaries, have more to them then just a cheesy melody over a beat.
of the 5 listed by the op, 4, yes FOUR ! are based on samples of old tracks.
Boogie Pimps - Somebody to Love (jefferson airplane)
Sunset Strippers - Falling Stars (boy meet girl)
Uniting Nations - Out of Touch (hall and oats)
Eric Prydz - Call on Me (steve winwood)
thats not good! its lazy, its unoriginal.
dj sammy - sunlight (lol ok ok i know, but i actually am reluctantly liking this!)
divine inspiration - the way (put your hand in my hand)
jurgen vriese - the wilderness and the opera song
layo and bushwakka - finaly vs love story
junior senior - move your feet
scooter - maria (i like it loud)
s club 8 - dont tell me your sorry
annie - chewing gum
refekt - need to feel love
juliet - avalon.
so for me it wasnt the best of times for dance, and ive certainly many more from the golden age in the mid-late 90's.
and before any smart arse points it out... i know layo and bushwakka is a marriage of two older songe with a riff pinched from devo 'mongoloid'...:p:D

2010 was the first really good year for dance since 2003 (although 2009 had some signs of improvement), with the likes of the Swedish House Mafia and the beginnings of the really big dubstep tracks bringing the euphoria back into things, and since then things have been pretty good. But yeah, for 2003 alone all these were awesome:
Divine Inspiration - The Way (Put Your Hand In My Hand)
Jurgen Vries - The Opera Song
Layo & Bushwacka - Love Story vs Finally
XTM - Fly On The Wings Of Love
DJ Sammy - The Boys of Summer
Kontakt - Show Me A Sign
Solex - Close To The Edge
forgot that
thats a terrific track! one of my all time favs...
Even the 90's was just the same quality as what we had with the 2000s.
can you provide examples ? not being funny or owt, but many see the golden age of dance as the 90's, not the 00's, and going by your username id have thought that youd agree
90's dance music from acid to rave through trance and house music waks awesome, the 00's were decent but quickly died
Special D come with me is a personal favourite ;D
Fair enough, I'm just going from the stuff I've heard - there's probably a ton of 2004 songs I don't know that if I properly listened to I'd love. To be fair we're comparing the me of 15 to the me of 21 here, ages with completely different social lives and a clublife basically non-existent in '04 to all the time in '10, so personal memories are kinda winning the day there
Adding Plummet's 'Damaged' to the 2003 list as well, can't believe I forgot that!
yep, thats how i see it too
..... the thing is... i prefer the later style of dubstep over the 'proper' material. tim berg, magnetic man, great tracks!
Don't think i've ever known anyone else mention Annie - Chewing Gum before.
Great song!!!!
Mine would be 90-96.
I'll never ever forget being off my t**ts dancing to LFO and Tricky Disco then coming down three hours later to Zoe - Sunshine on a Rainy Day.
its quite well known on here, i see youve only just joined so thats why!
