Just got back from watching it and really enjoyed it, and that's coming from someone who intensely disliked Kill List. Great acting, directing, cinematography, and also very funny in places too. Surprised it got away with a 15 rating though considering the violence, i know it was probably the comedy that mitigated it and also that it was fairly brief, but it was pretty gruesome in places (not complaining, just surprised it wasn't an 18).
Saw this tonight and absolutely loved it. Comedy so black it makes Nighty Night look like Miranda. A very loud laugh from the audience for the line PJ68 quoted!
Surprised that with all the advertising and positive reviews, it only seems to have got a limited release. I've recommended it to a lot of friends, but it doesn't seem to be playing their local cinemas .
BTW, I was lucky enough to see it at the Curzon Soho cinema, with a Q&A session with Ben Wheatley and cast afterwards.
Wheatley was (good-naturedly) swearing his head off and refused to answer any questions on "Kill-List". I got the impression that he's a little weary with all the different theories on the story...
Alice Lowe and Steve Oram were brilliant though ...
Saw this yesterday, and the great thing is I knew nothing about it other than it was supposed to be good. And it was very good although I don't know what it says about me that
I found the most shocking part to be the dog and the knitting needles even though I saw that coming.
Excellent movie, very reminiscent of Nuts in May in places but very good indeed.
Just before Christmas we saw the DVD on sale in Morrisons for, I think, £3.....
It's not as good as Nuts in May but it is a dark take on a similar theme. However, it is a great advance on Kill List and it's daft end sequence. The tension at the end is so much better in this. I didn't pick up on the funny lines, I am going to watch this again.
I also enjoyed Down Terrace, but am unsure if I'll like A Field In England, as I've heard a lot of negativity about it.
I thought it was terrific. My film of last year.
And I was never that keen on Wheatley before. Though obviously a talent, his films seemed to consist of slightly disparate ingredients not quite working together. But with 'Field he got the recipe right, and it all came good.

My favourite line was;
"That is NOT my vagina Chris!"

Good to hear a positive review. I'll give it a go next time it's on Film 4 (which won't be long I bet!)

It was shown at the Quad actually, a friend of mine went to see it there.
Just got around to seeing it on Film 4. Very enjoyable, and without a terrible last 5 minutes which tainted the Kill List for me.

Sorry I meant A Field In England, but thanks anyway.
