This official photo has been doing the rounds on Twitter today:

The official press screening of the first episode happened today at the castle where the show is filmed and all of the journalists who were lucky enough to be there are raving about it saying how good it is, even better than series one. It starts in September, and a third series to be set in the 1920's has also been commissioned.
I just can't wait to see it!!:D:D I've watched the first series I don't know how many times:o

5mb/57 pages
Who eve did the casting was spot on, all the characters play fantastically well.
Can't wait.
A little bit off topic but Art Malic was on Loose Women the other day getting interviewed. I wasn't really paying attention but he was sporting a beard. When asked about the beard, I'm sure he said it was for Upstairs Downstairs what he is shortly filming, Another good show.
Just heard on Radio 2 that Series Two "returns soon" although the lady mentioned no transmission date and that various journalists were invited yesterday to watch the first episode of S2 at the location used for filming.
She also mentioned that it covers WW1.
Here is a tip for those of you that record it (and or file share).
Record the programme the following day from ITV's Net Player. Why is this ?
There are no adverts (only the ad bumpers), there are no DOGS (digital on screen graphics) and no split screen credits or annoying announcers voice over at the end !
That said record it first from ITV1 or ITV1 HD as a backup if the Net Player doesn't work.
I have taken to doing this myself for THE ROYAL which ends tomorrow night so possibly it may return next Sunday although there as been no advertising trails yet.
Just wondering......what can the BEEB, put up against DA.
Lord Lieutenant of Yorkshire - Earl of Granthem
Major / Doctor Clarkson
Leftenant Matthew Crawley
Corporal Medic Thomas Barrow
Nurse - Lady Sybil Crawley
Yes I know Lieutenant is the American pronunciation but Leftenant is the English variant.
Will he find out if one swallow really does make a summer?
Sunday 18th September 2011.
Sunday 18th September 2011.
One of the few times I will watch ITV
The BBC will be going factual with Frozen Planet the follow up to The Blue Planet [2001] and Planet Earth[2006].

Not heard that, but she will be excellent! I wonder if she if she'll play an American relative of the Crawley family? The Countess is American isn't she?
I can't seen them even bothering. What the point?
Looking at the pictures, Matthew is in one with a new female character called Lavina Swaine. Is she a new love interest for him I wonder? What will Lady Mary do? Cousin Matthew can't be expected to wait around for her forever;)
Will finally buy the blu ray, so I can watch it again. I've kind of missed Lady Mary, Michelle Dockery and Maggie Smith were the stars of the show.
Another excellent show, won't say which one I prefer IIRC it wouldn't go down well , shame we have to wait until next year for another series of that. Thankfully we have DA to tide us other until then.
As for what the BBC will air against it, they will try and go for something that as a different type of viewer. Ratings don't mean as much too them as they don't get money from advertising, also with DA's X Factor inflated ratings it's not as though they can compete.
So. bloomin'. excited. But with this mass rush of the big press pack and photos, is there going to be a drought until September now?! I need a trailer! (and not the 11 second one!) Hehe.
Ah but ITV who originally did Upstairs Downstairs missed a trick with what they could have done if Julian Fellows had thought it out.
Example
Instead of calling it Downton Abbey why not Southwold ?
Southwold being the family home of the Bellamy Family in UD. Same characters, same timeline etc but see the events that happened on the estate UD in reverse as it were.
There were so many mentions of Southwold in UD to intertwine small segments.
For example, In "The Joyride" James takes his new Stepmother for a flight in his plane and they get lost in the fog but are spotted flying over Southwold, why not show a small bi-plane in the sky on Southwold.
Another example being when Hudson had a heart attack and was sent to SW to recover. Whilst the Actor is no longer with us they could at least show the family ambulance approaching the estate with one or two of the Staff mentioning Hudson was arriving.
Richard Bellamy receives a letter from SW after the Titanic tragedy and rebuffs the offer, why not show the letter being written.
You get my drift lol.
