An Alternative Rising Star Award...

I've been very frustrated that someone like Noel Clarke is seen as a realistic role model for young people wanting to get into the film industry. In my role as a film journalist I've met a huge number of young filmmakers who work incredibly hard, technically and artistically, in order to get recognition and exposure. So I really wanted to offer these people the opportunity to win a Rising Star award that's based on their talent and endeavour as filmmakers on the rise

My website is running an 'alternative' to the BAFTA Rising Award for young and upcoming filmmakers in the international community. Please visit the link and take a look at their work (none of them are me, if that helps) and then vote! By voting you're supporting the burgeoning career of an up-and-coming cinematographer.

As always feedback and comments are greatly appreciated :) My website has no ads and therefore no revenue stream, but I do love the idea of people visiting :)

Cheers!

It's the last day of voting and that means it's your last chance to support these young cinematographers!

What is wrong with Noel Clarke?

I think 4.3.2.1 is one of the most abhorrent films of recent years. In terms of story telling and writing it is a terrible example to his young audience about how to make a film and I particularly dislike the way that he refers to himself as the voice of his generation. If this generation is going to have a voice then I'd like it to be a voice that can tell a coherent story.

I do, however, appreciate that some people don't hate him. Although I can't, for the life of me, understand why not...
