Alright, let's get these last 2 awards in this sub-category stage given out!

The past year has brought us lots of great and gripping Best Single Episodes episodes from wedding fiascos to heartbreaking deaths, from rip-roaring moments to shocking reveals and confessions, but which four episodes made it to the top four, and which one went on to be the champion? The nominations are:

    Baby Daniel's death [EM]
May's mad attack [last year, when Dawn was pregnant] [EE]
O.B's says goodbye to Max and Tom [HO]
    Vera's death [CS]

And the winner with just over half of the final vote and 35.8% is........

    Best Single Episode:

May's mad attack [last year, when Dawn was pregnant] [EE]

And we leave this section with Best Longrunning Storyline. Once again there was a lot of storylines to choose from. From baby deaths to baby swaps to who is the baby's father, and from secrets being revealed to family bust ups and family reunions. Here are the final four that made it to the final:

Maria and Liam's baby's death & the aftermath [CS]
    Ronnie's secret [EE]
Shadrach's anguish on having a secret daughter [EM]
    Ste's abuse of Amy [HO]

And the winner with 39.2% of the final vote is........

    Best Longrunning Storyline:

    Ste's abuse of Amy [HO]

Which brings us to the end of the SUB CATEGORIES section.

Remember, if you want to join the game, go to www.soapgame.jhost.co.uk and check it out, and pick two characters from the available character list page (Roxy Mitchell and Jack Branning have just gone to a new player), then PM me your selection, or any questions you have. Please give me time to reply, as I am still doing this plus I still need to pick a winner for Lifetime Achievement Award!

So anyways, coming up in the next posts, we will have the final awards which are all pretty big 'uns as they feature all the soaps regardless of if they are in the soap game or not.
BTW, I will reply to ALL posts at the end of this.
I am not being ignorant, I will just find it easier to multi-quote you all and give replies in one go :)

Hey, thanks Jo for the pm ;)
I missed the ceremony, I'm sad :( But thankfully everything's in here and that's great to have the percentage :D You did an amazing job ;) Why isn't there an award for you?

I'm very glad EE is one of the two best soaps this year, for me it's the first of course but I have to admit that HO is great too. :p

And now I'm wondering who can possibly get this Lifetime Achievement Award...

Oh and by the way, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :D As Samantha already said it, spend a good day today and I'll think about you :)
See you later for the very last result ;)

    Ok folks, here we go.
The final Award, and it was not an easy decision, but after sleeping on it, I have reasched my decision.

Many people sent in nominations for who they thought should win win this Lifetime Achievement Award, and I took all the nominations in to concideration.

But first let us remember those who we have sadly lost in the last year.

Mike Reid, aged 67, (July 29th 2007) [Eastenders]
Ronald Magill, aged 87, (September 6th 2007) [Emmerdale]
Hilda Braid, aged 78, (November 6th 2007) [Eastenders]
    Tony Holland, aged 67, (November 29th 2007) [Eastenders Co-Creator]

Sky, aged ?, (May 16th 2008) [Emmerdale, Tootsie]
Clive Hornby, aged 63 (July 3rd 2008) [Emmerdale]

I do hope I haven't forgotton anyone, feel free to let me know if I have, so I can amend the list. Thank you.

After carefully thinking about who this award should be given to and reading through the nominations, I came to the conclusion that there was only one person it could go to.

The person I am talking about was born Sylvia Butterfield, on 9th November 1939 in Leeds, West Yorkshire.

But we fondly know her as Liz Dawn.

During the 1970s she appeared in a variety of programmes including All Creatures Great and Small, and she was also one of the alien voices in the Cadbury's Smash advertisements. Though I'm sure many of us here are too young to remember this!

In 1974, she had more of a recurring role as a factory worker, in Coronation Street, until her husband, Jack, (played by William Tarmey) first appeared in 1979 and later for a more concrete role in 1983.

The formidable Vera Duckworth was certainly a woman not to mess around with.
She was often arguing with her neighbours on the cobbles, most notably though, it was Jack who bore the brunt of her tongue.
Which was of course, the secret to their long lasting marriage.

Liz was awarded the M.B.E. (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2000 Queen's Birthday Honors List for her services to charity in Leeds, which she thoroughly deserved.

In mid-2004, Liz was diagnosed with the incurable lung disease emphysema.

And on 22nd July 2007, Granada Television (makers of Coronation Street) announced that Liz was to be written out, at her own request, before Christmas, due to further complications with emphysema.

It was pretty obvious to the viewers that Liz was ill and her scenes were cut down and limited. She was often filmed only in the Duckworth house or very occasionally in the Rover's Return.

Her final appearance came in the episode screened on 18th January 2008, when Vera Duckworth died in her sleep, thus ending 33 years of the popular, iconic character.

Liz won the Special Achievement Award at the 2008 British Soap Awards for her 33-year long portrayal of her iconic character.

And now we too honour her with our very own award.
Here's to Liz, a much loved person and actress to all.
We hope you enjoy your much well deserved retirement!

And that brings us to the end of the 2008 Soap Game Soap Awards.

I will be posting more stats and figures and reply to several of you later. It's my birthday and I'm going to go make a cake!

Here we go guys, we enter our third year of the soap game, and here are last weeks scores, on the new system.

Those that scored got double points. Those that didn't scored got half of what the lowest scorer got, unfortunatly that was only 1 points, so it was doubled for them to 2 points, which in turn was halfed to 1 point for those who didn't score anything (below the line), and to celebrate my birthday, everyone got an additional 10 points!
