    It really was.

You can see, even though all the soaps are rivals, how much they all care for the others.

Totally agree, had a feeling they would say something about Anne Kirkbride. It also shows that the rivalry among the soaps is friendly.

Oh please he didn't think of that himself, he was told to say it.

I genuinely thought he was going to say "I'd like to thank Coronation Street for being so crap", but the sentiment was nice.

Does it really matter who's idea it was? It was a lovely sentiment.

    I doubt it.

Adam has shown many times previously how much he cares for the other soaps. and it has been seen many times over how much all the soaps care about each other.

I think what he said was from the heart, not from a script.

Doesn't matter where it came from it was lovely and you could tell Adam meant every word.

you only have to look at twitter to see how well the actors from various soaps get on with other. contrary to popular belief that charley webb is horrid and miserable, she seems to be one of the friendliest and seems to be friendly with everyone!

It doesnt matter whether he was told to say it or not he still chose to and paid tribute to Anne. nice touch

I dont believe he was told to as they usually write their own words

Not many things on TV get me emotional but Adam's tribute was beautiful and very respectful for all soaps stars in general, it gave me goose bumps.

As I have just said in the NTA thread it seems the only rivalry and bitterness is between viewers and not the casts from different soaps.

I thought it was a lovely thing to say.

And as he is the longest serving cast member of EE I think it was perfect that he was the one who said it.

A very nice, and unexpected touch.

It shows to me that the majority of petty soap rivalry appears on forums like this and not amongst the soap stars. I have heard many stars from different soaps compliment each other on many occasions. Adam was right without Coronation Street there probably wouldn't have been an Eastenders as the BBC wouldn't have felt the need for it.

Eastenders deserved to win this year and am glad they did, but think it was lovely not to be too triumphant tonight.

I prefer it like the old days when they would all fight each other outside the building and throw awards at each other.

The old time days. Back when actors were actors.
