Boredom at work thread

So - is anyone else still 'working' at the office, but bored senseless ?

I am. I am here, along with one of the bosses who i dont think will be here much longer.

The phone hasn't rung once, the place is WAY too quiet, and i wanna go home and eat and drink.

So, who else is stuck in the office, and is it quiet or suprisingly busy ?

Me too. We have half day Xmas Eve and I considered taking it off but I still have some food shopping to do and I know that if I don't come into the office friday I will get bogged down with things at home and end up doing a last minute panic buy 10 minutes before the supermarket closes :D

Your boss/company does know that there is a legal minimum temperature a workplace has to be kept at (only certain exceptions such as in a bakery, cold storage etc.). If your office is below a certain temp and has no heating you have a legal right to complain and can even refuse to work there until the situation is remedied.

Working from home has it's advantages. I've just cracked my first alcoholic beverage of the day. Well it has just turned noon.

I think given the current situation, I'd just be happy that I had a flaming job, and be doing all I could to ensure I kept it.

I'm bored at work too. We'll be here until Friday, but that will be a half day (if not less).

So many fun sites have been blocked from our computer system too, so playing games on line isn't an option. :(

I remember having to spend the afternoon polishing and cleaning my already polished and clean desk when the work ran out.

    So bored I could cry!

I've been scanning the net on and off all morning to keep myself sane. I've got work to do, i just can't do it as the equipment I need is locked away and the keyholder has buggered off to Thailand.

My replacement keys wont be here until January 30th though I suppose it'll give me something to do then for my final 2 days in work until my hols :)

Our customers just aren't playing ball. The phones are stupidly busy for the day before we break up.

We are wearing silly head bands (mine are jingly bell antlers) and have Christmas music playing in the background - yesterday we had a little cha cha cha to Felis Navidad in reception.

We're in tomorrow but I'm bringing Christmas films in which we'll watch in the training room with the door propped open in case the phones ring.

Be grateful it's only short term - I went for two years with no work to do (major bank that was partially bailed out by the public) , but had to turn up every day for a 7 hour turn of duty. Eventually left and took the company to tribunal for constructive dismissal - and won!
