Jake Bugg to perform on American Idol

He's been booked as a guest performer in the first results show tomorrow night.

Seems strange that he'd agree to perform on the daddy of all manufactured reality shows when he's taken such a vocal stance against them in the past.

Perhaps he has a price after all?

To be fair, he has only ever slagged off X Factor, not reality shows as a whole

Love Jake Bugg - can't blame him, that's a lot of exposure.

It does seem a little strange, not really his scene.

Good way for him to break into America if that's what he wants to do.

Really don't like his music. He's like a new more miserable Billy Bragg.

Totally agree. I wish he'd crack a smile. I also cringe when I hear him sing 'What doesn't kill yaaaaaaaaaa'. Terrible :o

Wow, that's a surprise, wouldn't have thought it was his thing.

It probably isn't his thing, more his management company I would have thought.

It is also a good way of getting yourself noticed in America, plus it is a little more credible than X Factor (not a lot), Idol seems to attract better talent, but it doesn't really take that much.

The only part I would find interesting is the interview... which is him not being interesting.

You can tell Idol is on the rocks. Awful booking for them.

I think I must be the only person who doesn't have a clue who this Jake Bugg is! Wouldn't know him if I fell over him and don't know any songs by him. But by all accounts on here it sounds like I'm not missing anything! As for American Idol, it's certainly still a high profile show for guests to be noticed on, I'm sure. I would think artists queue up to appear on there!

Check him out, but his first album not his second one and make up your own mind, he may or may not be for you, but you wouldn't know that if you just base your decisions on what others say.

They can keep him, we still have the real Liam Gallagher in the UK, we don't need the tribute ;)

Never heard that one before. You think that one up all by yourself?

I think this has to be one of the most annoying things I see on forums.
Since you've come up with this view point could you help me understand it by pointing out which Beatles songs sound like
    Rock n Roll Star
    supersonic
    shakermaker
    Columbia
    live Forever
    cigarettes & alcohol
    Slide Away
    married with children
    Basically anything they did?

Now if you'd said Slade or T-Rex you might have be on to something.

Surprised that he's doing Idol. Doesn't really seem his thing seeing as he's criticised shows such as the X Factor before now...
