Doctor told Amy in TBB she didn't get to decide what he needed to know. Then in TIA he told his future wife and
in laws not to play games with him."Don't ever think you are capeable of that" . Maybe he should try and extend that courtesy to his companions and people he tries to help.
When Amy was pregnant he secretly scaned her and didn't say anything to Rory. Not fair or right he was Amys husband and Melodys father. By the time he did try and deal with the situation it was too late (again). Amy was left infertile and her daughter stolen and tortured.Funny how the physical scars in one were a reflection of the mental and emotional damage in the other.Kovarian has a lot to answer for. Rory must have felt so sad and powerless that he could do nothing to protect or heal his "girls". Then there was the whole two streams thing. Amy sees her older self bitter after her husband and best freind abandon her .Yet within a few minutes she forgets 36 years of "hell" and forgives the man she claimed she hated more then anyone. What even she who must not be named?. Rory even told the doctor he didn't want to travel with him anymore and didn't want to turn into him by having to chose which Amy lived and which one died. River knew her husband had allready seen her fate just before she died. How will Oswin react if she finds out he also knew how and when she is going to die too?.

We don't know for sure that the companion is going to be Oswin - chances are she'll be a different character altogether
