    Is that all of them?

And, are 'you' normally put in one closest to where you live/were sentenced?

I know New Hall female prison at Wakefield was still open as of August of 2013, unless it's closed since then of course.

Each prison usually has a catchment area. So it depends in what court you're sentenced where you end up initially. You can then apply for a transfer to be closer to family etc. It's further complicated by how you're categorised (security wise).

Thanks. I have to write to someone in the prison but cant wait for the 6 weeks it can take for the location service to do their job. So, I am just going to send it to all the above prisons and then I know it'll get to her!

They should have a prisoner number which if they were on remand will be the same. Could u call the prison service and ask where she has been placed? Or will she be able to call you and let you know?
