It might result in people voting for the loonier parties, like UKIP, Liberals etc, just a protest.

well it could create some very interesting hung parliaments which imo could be a good thing?
It would wean people off the current political situation and create a new one!

Just imagine the big parties being forced to always work with the smaller ones to get things done, it would lead to them doing things that are more popular as no one would agree about the less popular things!

But if someone dos'nt like any of candidates available to vote for. Are you saying they should have to vote for one of the candidates who they don't agree with or be fined. That is a ridiculous idea. At least there should be a choice of, None of the Above, to vote for, if they don't like any of the candidates or political party's.

There should be a law that says that a union cant strike unless at least 51% of members vote and vote for a strike, so if the turn out is lower than 51% the the vote is thrown out and if only 51% vote then it has to be a unanimous vote for the strike.
I imagine that there would be less strikes, as the unions would have to convince their members that a strike is worth it!
72% voted in favour of a strike!

what was the turn out? is that 72% of the turn out? if its 72% of members then fine but if turn out was low and it was 72% of a low turn out thats less than 50% of members!

Thats why a change in how people become candidates is needed so there are many more on the ballot paper then there should be at least 1 person that each voter would like or be ok voting for?

That's really is ridiculous. You can't tell me that everyone will like any one of the candidates. . There can be no guarantee even with more candidates that every member of the public is going to like any of the candidates at a said constituency. The only way round this, is having as one of the choices is, None of the Above.

OK then change the voting system so that yes a none of the above is on there but instead of just voting for your favourite list them all all in order with numbers by each one.
So if people dont like the candidates, they can say their first choice is none of the above, then they need to put them in the order they ether like or dislike them.
If someone hates them all they will start with none of the above and then go in the order they hate/dislike the candidates from least hate to most hate.
You surely cant say that that wont suite people! although whoever is in power will find it hard to change the system as we saw last time.
I so wish that the referendum had given people a choice of voting systems instead of a yes or no choice, it would have forced people to check things out properly!

But if I didn't like any of the candidates, I wouldn't want to put them in any order. I would just want to vote for, None of the Above. It just wouldn't work as Politicians are probably even more unpopular than bankers at the present time.

BECTU was 42% turnout, NUJ would only say the turnout was 'decisive' which makes most suspect that it was low or else they would have given a figure.

    UNITE probably have a 200% turnout! :)

Technically the strike has been suspended by the unions but the Games won't be affected as by the time they have balloted their members the games will be over !
