Due to a recession in his tumour. Indefinite absence. Story is just breaking, hope he's ok.

Barca have cancelled all media events today and will be announcing his replacement soon.

It all seems to have a very serious vibe about it.

This feels very sudden and very serious.

Any news on success of the op or anything along those lines?

Actually they seem to be saying the op is happening as we speak.

I guess with these things he will be getting regular scans and stuff so you would hope its something caught early again.

Sounds like the best course of action for all involved. I didn't realise that he'd had the tumour previously, but I read a load of rumour earlier all hinting to something serious.

As someone living with someone in the very same situation (my dad is having a very similar operation today), I can understand what this is like for his family, and can only wish him all the best.
It is a very tough situation, and one that I hope that he comes through in as best of health as is possible.
    My thoughts are with him.

Hope your Dad get's better soon, it is very hard seeing a parent you love and respect being ill. Also hope Villanova get's better soon, like others have said i didn't know he had health issues. It is such a shame for him as he has started so well at Barcelona. I wonder if he will return to the managerial hot seat, i certainly hope he does but your health must come first, even when managing the world's greatest club side in Barcelona.

Apparently Barcelona are going to release a statement regarding Tito Villanova's health and his replacement within the next few hours, so hopefully things will become more clear then, hope he gets well soon.
