I watched The Lost Weekend on youtube a few months ago, went looking for it today and it's gone. This got me thinking how though it is said that once something is in cybespace it's there for ever, in fact there are lots of things I've found on the net which have then disappeared – not just films, but photographs, links, forums, entire sites...
Anything you can think of which used to be on the net but can't find now?

Alta Vista - the Google of its day!
It's still there, but not exactly a masterpiece of website design.
I so remember them. I regularly used Alta Vista back in its day.
Took me back to being bored in I.T lessons in high school.
Home of software used for watching Analogue Sky without taking out a subscription!
Warez sites, for MP3 files that took about 30 minutes per song on dialup & films that were so big that they were split into about 100 zip files.
IRC & ICQ chat - preferred ICQ tho & still remember my login details
at one time MSN was almost synonymous with chat rooms and messaging......in fact it pretty killed off having chat rooms built in to forums as it was just so much easier to start an MSN Chat
As for the 'MSN Forums'........there were a couple associated with DS
One was 'WhenDSisdown'........a place to go for info when DS disappeared as it did more often in the olden days.
There was also a site for DS members to post their photos but I can't remember what that was called........
Anyone remember Music City after Napster went, 19 servers and the technology wasn't there to merge the chat from each server, so there was like 19 general discussions and you used to have to log off and on again multiple times to hope you ended up on the server with your mates! heh
EDIT: i see it is!
I used to use a great site called eMP3finder. It had the entire top 40 updated each week as well as a searchable database of downloads. They all had a lot of "voting" nonsense from what I remember but once you had done that you could get your single mp3 in about half an hour providing your internet didn't drop. Back then Gozilla was basically essential
There was another site I cant remember the name of (had a purple background if I remember rightly) which had music plus a monthly film that was a 650mb DivX video split into loads of zip files as you say. Think that one was more for ISDN users though!
So is my `mother-in-law`:o
dancing for pennies to feed its smack addiction......
I remember every homemade website being a geocities one
I made a Geocities site once that was just a load of porn pics on a page
Yes, I remember Faceparty.
A nut job woman accused me of being a lesbian because I looked at her profile.
I had that. For like 3 months
