RIP. Didn`t he always make sure his comedy was family entertainment, never going into sexual innuendo/promoting discrimination,sexism,anti-gay humour? Watch his show with Hattie Jacques,`Sykes`. Totally different kind of comedy.

He was that rare breed of comedian the whole family could watch together.

Genuinely funny man. He didn't even have to speak to make me smile.

Sleep well Eric, and thank you. :(

Aw, man! I've just learned about this and although it was inevitable sooner rather than later it is still deeply sad news.
Eric was one of those writers from the Golden Age of broadcasting, along with Barry Took, John Junkin and a handful of others who wrote masses of stuff for radio and TV comedy. He was also a fine comic actor and his 'Sykes' series ran for years.
So thankyou from the bottom of my heart for all the laughs (and all of them clean!) Eric, and may you continue knocking 'em in the aisles from your new office. RIP.

His comedy timing was wonderful, all the more amazing given that he was partially deaf.

    RIP

I believe I'm right in saying he wrote of lot of the Goons' stuff, uncredited, when Spike was unwell too

    RIP Eric.

Fantastic- really embodied the role :D

He did so well continue when he became profoundly deaf and blind. He just adapted.

    Incredible man and much-loved.

R.I.P. Eric. You can catch up on the showbiz gossip with the Hattie et al., now.
