Unable to sell Heineken or Guinness? :o:o:o
Wetherspoon is waving bye-bye to Heineken and will pull the brewer's products from all of its 926 pubs, following a fall-out over pricing in Ireland.
Wetherspoon said on Tuesday that the Dutch brewer had refused to supply Heineken lager and Murphy's stout to its new pub in Dun Laoghaire, Dublin.
The group also said that Heineken had wanted personal guarantees from chief executive John Hutson before it would supply any other drinks.
But the pub giant had already been treating customers to Heineken lager and Murphy's stout at a discount of around 40 per cent at its first Irish pub in Black rock, Dublin.

The group, which last year said it planned to open around 30 pubs in the Republic of Ireland, is also unable to sell Guinness there following a spat with drinks group Diageo.

Not being able to sell Guinness in Ireland, on the other hand...
It's a popular lager whether it tastes like all the others or not.
Yeah, not being able to sell Guinness in Ireland is :o:o>:(>:(>:(:cry
But it's hard to imagine someone walking into a pub and saying 'no Heineken?! I'm out of here!'
All mainstream lager does not taste the same. But I take your point about someone walking in and leaving because they didn't have a particular one.
Ah well Krombacher it is then.
Admittedly I've become a bit of a snob about it as I've moved onto ales in recent years and can't believe I drank awful big brand lager for so long.
and now tastes thin and watery compared to other lagers.
More expensive than in most of the UK. Wouldn't say it's a rip-off though.
Is Heineken in the UK the original version or brewed under licence like a lot of them? I try and avoid UK brewed lagers, luckily my local off licence sells proper Spanish San Miguel.
Yes, I love San Miguel under a hot Spanish sky, but it doesn't taste the same in cold wet England.
And the black pudding with the breakfasts!
Everything is a rip of in Dublin. Galway is much better.
I'm getting into ales and craft beers lately. There are a few small breweries here in Northern Ireland who make delicious beer.
Bulmers cider is much nicer!
Kopparberg is nicer again
Although this company makes cider that is even better than that

Oooh I love kopparberg. Esp the strawberry lime flavour.
