As with Strictly, a lot of them do get outside help. Realistically, it could be difficult for someone who has specialised in Latin for example, to try to choreograph a ballroom routine.
If this is not officially allowed, then one way they (pro dancers) can get round it is to book themselves a lesson with someone else. Even pros take regular lessons, and who is to say whether they are learning stuff for their own dancing, or a routine to pass on to the celeb partners! I know this happens cos my partner and I curled up one night when we saw 'our' routine being danced on Strictly - we knew where that had come from!
This seasons does not seem to be as popular as last's. Not many posters on here & although it is supposedly a DWTS sub-forum the threads seem to be taken up with other shows I'm not really interested in tbh .
At the mo I'm really liking Kristi/Mark & Jason/Edyta as potential winners; although I think Cristian/Cheryl may give them a run for their money - if he can get over himself that is . (It is really giving me the heebeejeebies tho, the fact that he is so much like a good looking, younger version of Craig R-H :eek:).
Priscilla is surprisingly good (another Marie Osmond imo) but why, oh why has she had that hideous work done on her face . I can't believe somone that rich & famous can get it sooo wrong - has she the same cosmetic surgeon as Michael one wonders & I'm surprised that if she's not averse to obvious work why, she is still flat-chested - wierd!!
Glad that awful big-mouthed man was eliminated, he had nothing whatsoever going for him, unattractive, could not dance & his TV persona was revolting (imo for what it's worth of course). I felt sorry for Monica though - she was the worst dancer of the women it has to be said but she tried so hard & came across well. She did improve over the two dances however but just too stiff & self-consious.
Hoping Adam will go next week cos he's another one that makes me cringe - poor Jullianne but I suppose it was only fair she got a dancing-duffer eventually :rolleyes:.

From the snippets I have read she had collagen injected into her face by a (bogus) doctor who used the wrong type of collagen, and it set hard. So, more power to her for not hiding away and carrying on despite having lost mobility in her face. I think I like her dancing better than Marie last season.
I haven't watched the show closely but so far I like Edyta and Jason. He's gorgeous and can really move for a big guy. No dancing around a 'pole' for Edyta this season, she can actaully give him choreography.
I've also been very impressed by Marlee and her partner, Fabian, is it?. Timing must be a real issue, yet she is as much if not more in synch, as the others. I can only imagine how good she would be if she could hear the music.
Kristi's enjoyable to watch, but I'm one of those who likes the 'journey'. Steve Gutenberg is a sweetie, but he needs to be a bit less effusive, as it's going to start getting annoying.
Not sure about the rest, it'll take a couple of weeks more for me to decide about them.
I've been unable to get online till now since I watched the show on Friday night! Think some contenders have started to emerge now, certainly Jason and Mario in the boys' department, with Cristian if he can ensure he focuses...Steve is entertaining but he might not be able to match the others techincally. Adam I think will be next man to leave. Of the girls, I was very impressed with Shannon on Friday, her quickstep was elegant, fast and the footwork and holds appeared really good. Kristi is great and she managed the Latin hips well, and Marlee has great musicality in spite of her deafness. I was pleased with how well Marissa did the quickstep, which is not an easy dance for a short, well built lady I'm sure (I am of similar build so that's not an attack on her BTW)! Priscilla is good but as Len said it is all a bit too precise...

I was wondering myself why there didn't seem to be many posts commenting on DWTS this season.
There were a few comments about the first week's show, which got posted under a slightly misleading thread called "results", and which seemed to be mainly talking about the non-elimination.
I wondered if perhaps people were posting on another forum (maybe a US one).
Do you think someone ought to start a thread on here each week, with a clear title, possibly after the Friday night showing, when most UK TV viewers will have had a chance to see the show, and avoiding any spoiler touble, giving their impressions about that week's show.

Yes someone used to do that last year & put "no spoilers" in the title. I used to avoid coming on here & SCD threads until Fri night after the results on UKTV GOLD though, cos it was surprising where you could pick up who was eliminated after the Tues show in the USA.
Maybe you could try it his Fri? If not then I shall .
PS I did not realise Priscilla had the "trout-pout" syndrome too :eek:. Pretty obvious actually when you come to think of it but I just find it unbelievable/shocking someone of her immense wealth & obvious clout got an alleged botch-job doctor to do it. Just shows you everyone can make mistakes, I suppose it's very brave of her to say "what the heck - I'm going on DWTS anyway" but watching her face is very disconcerting. I'll just concentrate on her footwork from now on .
DWTS5: We had Mel B (who nearly did and who should have won!) and Jane Seymour. Was there another?
We have a British pro (Mark Ballas). Well, he's half American but grew up in London from age 4 to 21 (last year) and his mother's (pro dancer Shirley Ballas) from Liverpool. This season, he's let his British accent come back! (at least in interviews - he seems to sail effortlessly from a British to an American accent.)
And Derek Hough grew up in London, age 12 to 22, and I think he still considers it his home (Marky does as well) -- and Derek's sister Julianne lived with the Ballases too from age 10 to 15.
I'm probably leaving some people out. Oh, dear Len Goodman (and Bruno Tonioli.)
