Hey forum, just posting here as I need some help with a little technical knowhow. Ive been looking into getting Airtunes to strem my music back to my stereo, but I was a bit put off by the price tag. Through looking into it though, I realized that with one cable I should be able to connect my ipod to my stereo and use it in the same way, no muss no fuss. What I think I need to do is use a cable like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-multimedia-cable-mini-phone-stereo/dp/B00004Z5CP/ref=sr_1_3/202-9937061-9329432?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1185826205&sr=8-3
just to connect my ipod from the headphone socket to the white and red audio inputs on the back of my stereo. All I need to know is- am I right?????
Any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks
Al

If you connect it via the iPod headphone socket, the signal will be a lot stronger than line in.
The sound quality should be OK as long as you keep the volume down. If it's too high, at best the sound will be awful, at worst you may damage your stereo/amp.
Does an iPod have a line-out as well as a headphone socket?
If it doesn't, I'm pretty sure you can buy docks that are designed for this sort of use. That way you can also use mains power to keep the iPod going as well ...
(I'm sure someone will be able to post alink to such an item)

There are probably better ones but at least you know what to look for now!
Ive been looking while waiting for replies and found this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0009S5382/ref=pd_luc_mri/202-9937061-9329432?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
seemingly something designed for the purpose, I shouldnt think it would damage my stereo right? it seems that thats the basic lead that you need to connect the apple wireless music thingummy anyway!
The one on ebay is only £1 dearer and it's a dock with proper line out AND a remote control!
I know which one I'd buy .....
* EDIT *
Just re-checked the ebay one .... £9.99 P&P .... pfffffft!
There you go. Same thing but at £4 P&P.
