So boring and repetitive. One dive??? So much time wasting. Watching Tom Daley diving every ten minutes is boring as are the synchronized swimmers.

Am guessing by the size of this thread that it was very boring indeed :)

Why was it recommissioned. What will they replace Dancing On Ice with. "Celebrity horseracing"

If Tom Daley wasn't a media darling, it wouldn't have lasted beyond one series. Truly dire and pointless programme.

It does not translate well to on-screen entertainment, they train a long time and then it's over in a second.

Apparently the show got over 4 Million viewers. Maybe the executives don't mind recommissioning any of crap on ITV as long as it brings in the viewers.

Good grief, I can't believe so many people can sit through something so rubbish. Tom Daly is clearly enjoying the public's goodwill after the Olympics but surely this must wear off eventually?

I don't think people believe this show is any good. But watching a range of celebs having to expose their bodies and then carry out a sporting challenge that can really show them up has a certain kind of fascination. That's why it's a big twitter talking point. I thought that they would get more than 4m this week with no rival celeb shows challenging it.

its an excuse for a bit of titillation, a good looking, toned, young boy with his shirt off, that is where their main audience will come from me thinks.

Also, they want Tom daily on screen, the camera loves him, so i reckon over the next year or so, he will be popping up all over while they try him out in various positions until, they find one that works, he's a shoe in.

If only, he had some pullover on.

The format has become boringly familiar too...all these celeb reality shows now include a token fatty with someone called Gemma filling the spot in this show.

It says a lot for the viewing tastes of the British public when 4 times as many people watched Splash than did The Bridge on BBC4.

To be fair, BBC4 is a rather specialist channel. It's also barely advertised and I often learn something was on I would have jumped at the chance to watch only weeks or even months after it aired.

However, it does depress me that so many people are happy to watch any old crap served to them. What happened to having standards and a bit of imagination?

If they put a concrete panel over the top of the pool they could call it:

    SPLAT!

You think they should not have recommissioned it considering it was a hit last year?

Exactly, it got good ratings and that is all the TV execs are interested in. So if you want the TV you deserve, switch this shight off, watch somethng else ratings will fall and it will get canned. The sooner the better

You are right that BBC4 doesn't have the same advertising budget as ITV but it's always the first channel that I check for anything interesting to watch. It's an oasis if quality TV especially on a Saturday night.

Seems that some people just turn on ITV and watch whatever is on there.

I'll admit I've never actually seen this show but Charlie Brooker covered it on one of his Screenwipe programmes so I feel I know all I need to know about it.

It really does sound like something Alan Partridge would pitch - in fact it sounds worse - Arm Wrestling with Chas 'n' Dave sounds like The World at War by comparison.:D

Cannot abide the crapola that is called 'Splash'. BUT we automatically make apoint of checking BBC 4 for some of the best TV around.

Someone mentioned 'The Bridge' .... now this is how a detective programme should be made. Same as 'The Killing', 'Borgen' and the Montalbano series - fabulously made, extremely engrossing series.

Just recorded it and ff'd to the bits with Michaela Strachan in her swimsuit. Three minutes of quality TV!
