A well respected former PM addressing German Chancellor Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats in Berlin, warns
“The sheer scale of the influx has put strains on our health, welfare, housing and education services that we struggle to meet, and has held down wages for many of the poorest members of our society,” he said. “It is not physically or politically possible without huge public disquiet.”

It was John Major who signed up to the maastricht treaty which help cause the founding of UKIP. So thank you John for playing a major part in creating UKIP!

He is only speaking because the cracks are getting bigger and bigger in the EU dream. The Tory high command like to think many voters will listen to him but the genie is out of the bottle. He is just another EU minion.

Sinking in is a gradual process.
I would suggest a more impactful method of transmitting a message to a man who is named after a Television channel for morons.

Major was the one who argued for a rapid expansion of the EU to the east - a broader Europe - when the French were arguing instead for a more integrated EU - a deeper Europe.

He (largely) won the argument and is going to get little sympathy if he now complains about the results.

Why do you care? You want out... surely the best way to achieve that is to wreck any proposal for reform?

Major is quite correct... but folks in the UK should bear in mind that any reform is a two-way street, and may impact their ability to work in the EU in the future.

I cannot recall that Major (the man in grey) was of any great advantage or inspiration during his years in office , But for him to point out after countless years of everlasting mass immigration, that the UK has too many immigrants, considering that he and his tory party are one of the reasons this country is so swamped, should be filed under - Brass Neck Rants !

I think John Major realises that he made a few mistakes when it comes to the EU, and I actually give him kudos for coming out at this time and saying what he has said. He probably didn't understand the implications of his policies at the time.
