Question about this forum

I like to discuss upcoming movies and movies that are currently playing at the cinema, however there aren't any sub forums and everything is just thrown in together which makes it a bit confusing IMO. I think it would be better if threads were split into the following sections (or something suimilar)...

Movies at the Cinema (includes upcoming movies)
Movies at Home (on Disc/Download)
Movie Discussion in General

What do others think? I was going to post this in the forum feedback section but doesn't look like there is one. I should say that as a newbie I'm fully prepared for the possible backlash at making this suggestion :)

Not enough posts to justify splitting it up. There's a sweet spot for post numbers where each forum has enough posts and new threads being made each day for it to thrive and a point where its too many and it would benefit from a split into subforums. And the movie forum here doesn't even reach hat sweet spot let alone exceed it and justify splitting.

Not surprising mind you as this isn't a movie site, it does cover movies but its a minor part of the site really so those wanting movie discussions are more inclined to do so on sites that specialise in movies

Oh OK. I thought the movie section looked active enough. I guess we have a different idea of what high activity is.

I'm starting to think that maybe DS isn't for me because the most popular sections appear to be Soaps and Big Brother which have 450,000 threads between them :laughing smilie: (and yet still no sub forums for some reason??)

If you want to discuss individual movies then give IMDb a try. Most of the posters there are relatively rational but sadly, some of them are rowing with one oar.
Although originally a British site, it's become more US-centric but even so, it can be quite entertaining.

I go onto IMDb now and then but there are too many idiots AKA 'the internet's finest' trying to spoil it for everyone else. I thought this place looked quite good, just not very orderly :D

Indeed. Last time I poked my head around the door at IMDb the lunatics had seemingly taken over for good. I'll never forgive Boxofficemojo for disbanding theirs...

This forum does look rather disorganised, but its ramshackle nature is part of its charm. It's good for discourse to have odd stuff popping up, and threads generally come alive when different opinions are presented etc.

Also, compared to other forums on this site, it's a model of decorum. Pop your head over the fence to see Adele/Taylor Swift being kicked about like a tin can down an alley again and again, for example.

Really? Whenever I look at stuff in the comments sections, it's full of either hateful trolls or inbred morons with one or two brave posters trying to have a proper debate.

I think IMDb's policies regarding idiots are bit more liberal than DS' so there are lot of people with room temperature IQs posting there but it's not quite as bad as some people make out.
