yeah - plugged in the right socket - used it to buy a movie the other day (then promptly took it out again). The ethernet socket is used as I have the box connected to my router for the on demand stuff. I don't have multi-room but was concerned that I had to take out a 12 month subscription to the HD package that it would mean keeping it in - it's not in just now anyways, will see what happens if Sky write to me about it or not.
I have tried a new filter - swapped the one on there with one I had spare and it still reduces the speed.
As Nigel said, unless you've got multiroom they won't care if your box isn't connected to a phone line. Only thing you'll miss out on is purchasing PPV and certain online Sky Active features.
