When the TARDIS lands for the first time at Clara's flat immediately after the credits, a red cracker crown floats past as it is materialising.
Was this ever explained, or just atmospheric, or yet another classic bit of Moffat "Something else is going on we'll find out about in 3 years time!" like with the where's-his-jacket-gone thing? As in a TARDIS with a future doctor has just left at the point, or something similar?
(I'll just say it so someone else doesn't have to.....THE RANI?)

While that's the obvious reason, it is in the middle of an otherwise deserted and litter-free park, and is exactly the kind of minor hidden-in-plain-sight nonsense that certain showrunners like to hang entire future stories off....
