It's passed now but huge storms here last night - thunder and lightning show went on for nearly an hour + torrential rain all night.
Localized flooding everywhere this morning.
i caught a little bit on my camera last night..was in bed, then was hunting the camera so i missed the beginning , just a flash of light and rumble of thunder, i thought it was good anyway
Last night,in Kent, there was the most massive clap of thunder I have ever heard ( and I have been in storms around the world).Even the cats, who normally hardly raise a paw, were running around in fright. Power and internet went down. Seriously scary.
It's weird here tonight. Thunder and lightning on and off for the last 6 hours, no heavy rain and hardly any wind just a flash and a rumble every 20 minutes or so.
I was over in Penwortham earlier, sleet was blowing heavily, I thought it was going to be heavy snow on the way home, but it didn't happen...thankfully.
I have to go twice tomorrow so I hope it doesn't snow.
Large thunderstorms likely for England - Friday 12th June 2015.
Time to place this page back on alert!
Some big thunderstroms are due across England during Friday and especially in the afternoon and evening, with some maybe dropping 50mm of rain in a short time. That is a whole month of rain on average in southern England.
Lightning radar showing storms approaching the south coast off Brighton and Eastbourne with some heavy rain, although mainly in the channel so far. Could be an interesting day ahead, with a lot of flashing, noise and wet about for some of us.
French thunderstorms died out as they crossed the channel tonight, leaving mainly light to moderate rain by the time they reached England.
But... I saw a big lightning flash to the south, over the Isle of Wight as it approached... and died. Be interesting to see what happens on Friday as temperatures rise.
Lightning appears to be finally breaking out in the south east of England south of London currently, after much heralding of impending storms which have yet to take hold to the extent suggested 24 hours ago. Much of the rain in the country does not yet appear very thundery however.

I sort of love it - give me the STORM
or I thought I was until I realised it was the neighbour bringing in his wheelie bins.
And heavy rain.
