Interesting. Just sorted PAC'ing my number over, and I was advised to put the SIM in and set up the voicemail before that happens otherwise i'd never get any.
Switched my phone to 3G and have a rock solid 4 bars reception - on Orange and Tesco I used to hover between 1 and 2 where I'm currently living. Nice
hmm no one told me to do this.
Yeah mine is in an old Nokia and its at full signal compared to the 2-3 bars i get on O2.

I'll be pleased if I get a solid 3G reception. It's always a faff when I'm out if i'm on the bus and want to pass the time with a bit of net surfing, so I have to go to the setup menu and switch it from 2G to 3G when i'm in a better reception area.
Funny thing with Virgin's voicemail is though is that it's currently not working !!. Rang just now and was advised to ring back later due to 'technical difficulties'.
My number has ported but I can't get MMS or Internet working on my iPhone. I have tried to manually install the settings file but still no luck, any ideas?

I've been on Virgin Mobile for 2/3 months now, moving from O2. It all started well, fantastic service, but lately my signal keeps dropping and the internet cutting out.
I'm on the Premiere tariff (£23pm) and was quite surprised to log in today and see that it says I've spent £20.87 (out of the £75 credit limit) yet my bill says I owe £18 (I paid extra last month so I was in credit by £5)...
I've bought nothing and not over run on my apparent 'unlimited' blocks.
Was reading on Hot UK Deals about this and someone claimed to have negotiated a deal with Virgin for a 30 day rolling sim that gives him 2,500 minutes, Unlimited minutes to landlines, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Virgin-to-Virgin Mobile minutes and Unlimited Data - all for £10 a month.
Really can't see how that's remotely true ..
My mother got a retention deal of 2,700 minutes, Unlimited minutes to landlines, Unlimited Texts, Unlimited Virgin-to-Virgin Mobile minutes, Unlimited Data with tethering, insurance and a Galaxy Ace Plus at £20 upfront for £13 a month, so it's likely to be true.

How the flip did she manage that ? Is she/Was she an existing Virgin Media customer ?
If I ever got anything like that, i'd keep it until I was bloody 90

I find that difficultt to believe unless virgin thinks that she does not use her phone much for voice or data

I had to find out all of the gsm codes and the correct number to divert to manually once the Mrs had been pac'd over.
The number you need to divert to is +44001(your phone number here without the 0)
Still waiting for my port!
Tried this:
http://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Mobile/iPhone-on-the-Virgin-network-Using-the-internet/td-p/1529264
Gave it a go there, when i plug it into itunes nothing happens...
I cant even log on to the virgin website, i get an oops page.
Pass then! I've got an old school Symbian phone so I've no idea. It just worked!
It shows 3G at the top of the screen and MMS works but when i go to internet nothing happens.
My APN setting are:
APN: goto.virginmobile.uk
user: user
psw: <none>
The Mrs G300 installed them automatically, they work too!
I tried them too, sadly they didn't help

Looks like I will be trying a different network... what a pain in the arse, never heard of a network not supporting the iPhone.
I went to "Reset Network Settings" on my iPhone and as soon as i did that Virgin sent me setting and now internet works.
I think its something to do with Network Settings going corrupt and no matter what you put as APN it wont work.
Virgin won't support the iPhone officially due to the huge royalties Apple are after, apparently.
That sounds like tosh, GiffGaff don't pay Apple any royalties but they offer support about how to get the iPhone working on their network.
But 02 do. GiffGaff is just 02 but under a different name.
For those with crApple iPhones wanting to use Virgin, get a decent phone then
Not your overpriced accessory
What an incredibly stupid fanboy response.
GiffGaff are a wholly owned subsidiary of O2, they are treated by apple as being completely separate like Virgin is.
Hence why you cant tether on GiffGaff on an iPhone.
The guy I got on the phone to virgin said he knew how to fix it but wasn't allowed "by virgin" to tell me lol... which is just nuts.
GifGaff is operated as a seperate company, with separate allocations and apn's etc etc. Apple also see them that way.
As for the comment just shows how stupid some people can be, must be all that plastic fumes going to your head.
