Les Diaboliques
1900
The White Balloon
For me at least it would have to be rotating all the time between a much bigger number of entrants
The Double Life of Veronique
Chungking Express
But this is like mini-battenburgs, three isn't enough.
Oh I was toying with The Double Life of Veronique
and The Virgin Spring
and Tokyo Drifter
It's hard!
Tilsammans
Etre et Avoir
Pan's Labyrith
City of God
The Motorcycle Diaries
Krampack
Y Tu Mama Tambien
The shorter version of Cinema Paradiso is one of the best films of all time Foreign Language or not. It`s hard to believe that Salvatore Cascio who played Toto the child is now 30.
My Choice...
1. Cinema Paradiso.
2. Napola
3. Gomorrah
Manon Des Sources
Nikita
Fear Eats the Soul
All About my Mother
Ah, those happy 'red triangle' days.......
Conte d'ete (Rohmer)
A Short Film about Killing (Kieslowski)
The Tin Drum (Schlöndorff)
Come And See(Russian)
Das Boot(German)
Pans Labyrinth(Spain).
Top 4!
Old Boy
Spirited Away
I love that fight scene in Old Boy where he fights all the guys outside the flat.Awesome.
Other South Korean movie i liked is that one with the sea monster that comes ashore. Can't remember the name of it,but it was well strange (and scary).
La Belle A La Bete
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Tough though, I love Pan's Labyrinth and The Orphanage and Oldboy and A Tale Of Two Sisters are excellent.
2. Y Tu Mama Tambien
3. A Prophet
Other films that I've also gone on to admire are La Zona, Linha De Passe, The Motorcycle Diaries and In The City of Sylvia just to name a few.
Great thread by the way, haven't seen some of the fav's mentioned on here which I'd definitely like to check out. Which really reminds to watch Pan's Labyrinth, cant believe i still haven't seen that
oh absolutely ... what a joy those films are.
The Host.
2 - Taxi
3 - Der Untergang aka Downfall
A La Folie, Pas Du Tout (spelling might be off there!)
Grave of the Fireflies (although I do watch it dubbed...)
The Desert of the Tartars.-(il Deserto dei Tartari)
Rome, Open City or Lives of others....
...also Fellini films, and I still haven't seen 'Gomorrah' or 'City of God' yet, so I may change my mind
Pan's Labyrinth
Central Station
Etre et Avoir
All three have me in tears for the majority of the film!
Pan's Labyrinth
A Tale of Two Sisters
