Think it might be Timeriders with Haydn Gwynne from Drop the Dead Donkey.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0373635/

From the very limited information on IMDb, it seems to have involved a witchfinder general, and a motorbike, so that might well have been it.

Can you remember anything else about it?

Oh well, I might as well chuck in my own tuppence question...

Anyone remember a series, possibly Australian, about a kid who was in an accident and left in a coma? While he was unconscious he was having some massive wierd fantasy-quest type "dream". I think Channel 4 showed it, maybe Sunday mornings.

    was that the Tribe.

No, it wasn't The Tribe, it was an American series called Odyssey.

The Odyssey was actually Canadian. I remember watching some episodes when it aired in The Netherlands but I was usually in school when it aired so I missed most episodes. Is it available on DVD or does it still air anywhere?

Not a lot really as I only caught one or two episodes. She rescued a young boy from the 17th Century who travelled with her on her time travelling Harley(I think). A clip on Youtube says it was filmed about five minutes from where I live. I never knew that. :D

I think I know the title of your original query which I have just found...Clowning Around.

It was on the BBC in the 1980s/early 90s and was a show about a young boy looking for his father and who ran away to join a circus.

You can get an NTSC video version sometimes on ebay or the like.

Hope I've solved the mystery, two years late, but what the hell!

I found mine - although, I think I must have watched a repeat!
A Break in the Sun - starring Nicola Cowper

I think I remember this - was it about a girl called Patsy Bly? I always thought it was called "Missing From Home", or am I mixing it up with something else?

Could the australian one be "round the twist" ? It's one of those shows where i can never forget the theme tune, they lived in a light house and there were some spooky goings on

Was this set in Margate with the young girl called Patsy?
If it was, I remember watching it in the early 80's, it was great.

A Break in the Sun was filmed in "Sheerness" my birthplace, the fair-ground is now a branch of Tesco...
