Questions about wedding fashion

Why is it when a man buys a suit, the openings of the jacket pockets are stitched together and you have to unpick the stitching to gain use of the pockets?
This isn't done for any other men's clothing, so why is it done for men's suit jackets?

Also, why is the flower you wear on your jacket called a button hole?
How were they given that name because to me a button hole is a hole on one side of a clothing item used to push a button on the other side of the clothing item through!

Can anyone explain?
Thanks.

Well I thought it was so that they stayed in shape whilst in the shop and stopped people who were trying them on from putting their hands in the pockets and stretching them.
