Canon Pixma Photo Printer

I have just bought a new toy! Can anyone give me any tips if there is a quicker way to download from my computer...it's seems very time consuming and long winded. It is MUCH faster to insert the camera card and print directly off that but you can't adjust the brightness that way.......also any ideas where I can buy cheaper shiny paper already cut to size :cool:
