Oh yes, it's looking really good now. As long as the companions don't turn up, we'll be fine. :D

I hate this, I just watched Dollhouse and I can't believe what Whedon has done. Fox has cancelled it ans so he goes and makes it ten times better. I love what he's done in the last 4 episodes but I also hate that his best writing of the show comes after the axe has been brought down.

That was one of things on my list to watch Daznov, but I'm wondering whether to bother now that it's been axed. How frustrating.

Turn your back for an hour and we've regenerated. No sign of Muttley yet. She won't be pleased missing it. I thought I'll catch up at work and then get home to find all changed and left the beloved TB. I'll just have to wait until part 9 now.

Watching Paul O'Grady reminds me of Ianto in the Stolen Earth ;)

Was watching that this morning after watching Planet of the Spiders - bit behind and then I couldn't find Robot anywhere so may have to give it a miss this time. Nice seeing JP again and his shirts but not keen on the spiders. Loved seeing Benton though. I wish we could get an episode with him and Jack.

Vaughan on another thread says that it seems that Billie Piper is not on POG after all.

Just watched. She wasn't on but Will Young was.

We definitely regenerate faster than the Doctor ;)

I haven't planned on watching Casanova. I know it's by RTD (ie. I should like it :D ) but I'm not so sure about this one. Actually, I was more interested in The Second Coming with CE as far as RTD's stories with Doctors go ;)

Loved Bob and Rose, Second Coming, Casonova and Blackpool. I even have Mine all Mine which GDL is in briefly. Think I was a bit of an RTD addict before I even realised it.

If you had the chance to see it then I would but I wouldn't go out and buy it. At least they can give it a good ending as he knows it's been axed and it's hasn't been axed during a season's break which was left on a cliffhanger. I hate when that happens.

I was having a look at all the pictures Muttley, I agree that the B&W one with all the gang is great. I quite like this one as well - http://www.shillpages.com/dw/story/d5/st--6r52.jpg

no idea why, but i have edited the post so it goes to the main page and people can link from there. :)

yes it's a good video, not the music i would have chosen actually, though obviously it's apt on one level.

I really like bablecolour's tribute videos. The ITV news reminded me of what I was going to ask, is anyone going to be buying Rage against the Machine? I will be, I like the excitement which is being built over it.

In all honesty, that campaign is every bit as manufactured as the XF one, so no. I do think the XF have utterly ruined what was once a great British institution by always timing the finale so it coincide with xmas (which it didn't do in series 1, so it hasn't always been that way), but the Rage Against the Machine thing isn't the answer. It's an utterly cr*p song itself for one thing, it's part of the same record company as the XF single is for another, and people who are buying in to that campaign are every bit as sheep like as those that are being brain washed to buying the XF cr*p.

Wahoo double celebration, we have regenerated and I have no more lectures this decade :D

I also got 2% off a First with my first formative piece of work (first time I have ever written a psychology report) and did well in my formative module test.

So plenty of reasons to celebrate! :D

    *clinks champers with fellow Whoonies*

I think it's quite fun - even if it all goes to the same company it is building excitement which hasn't really been seen in ages.

Hmm, i don't see it as being fun, tbh, just rather contrived and boring. The reality is that TXF will outsell it by miles comes weeks end.

Yeah, I must admit that I do like the band and the song. I do prefer Know your Enemy to it.

Just watching Local Hero. I always feel that the character Peter Capaldi plays could be Frobisher in his early civil servant days.

Beginning of The Stolen Earth, Ianto, Gwen and Jack in the hub trying to understand what happened. Ianto flicks through the channels, and unless I'm mistaken he laughs out loud at a talk show which I seem to remember as being Paul O'Grady's.

Definitely worth a try, though I'd recommed being hooked on Whedon first because the first five or six episodes of S1 are pretty blah !

It's impossible for me to influence you on this one as I am such a massive DT fan - I loved it first time round and I am watching it again on Watch on a Tuesday night and loving it again. Funny and sexy, mad, irreverent, well acted by all the cast (great cast), brilliant fun romp. Also, reduces me to tears in parts. I can absolutely see why they wanted to work together again.
    Hear, hear!
I couldn't agree more. If there was ever a show deserving to be called a romp, in the best sense of the word, it's this one.
    crazzyaz7 wrote: »
I loved Bob and Rose, Queer as Folk and Second Coming, but for some reason, and it was the trailers I blame and the channel it was airing on (BBC3), I wasn't looking forward to Cassanova, in fact I didn't watch it when it aired. I don't know it just felt as if it was going to be an excuse for soft porn and swearing, plus I didn't know DT then either, plus it was about Cassanova...which is a "roll eye" person for me. But I watched it in 2007...and boy do I regret not watching it first time round. It is as with all RTD stuff more than what meets the eye. Its a beautiful love story, very surreal and funny moments, and the sex and swearing is just limited in the Carry On style, and therefore not annoying at all. the way the story is told is fantastic, and is very dark at times in the usual RTD subtle ways....you'll love it!!!:)
Interesting point about the whole "Casanova" issue... Not my favorite person in the world either, blame "the myth", the movies and all that. But I never read his original diaries (or whatever those books are called), apparently he wasn't that "bad" after all. I've read some reviews, by people who read his original story and who cringe at every film adaptation, including RTD's one (which sort of makes them a reliable source of information ;)), and the funny thing is, it seems like RTD might be the only one who actually did Casanova some justice... It's still a very, very loose adaptation (shocking news: DT looks nothing like the real Casanova!), but even some of those harsh reviewers admitted that RTD's version is probably the closest one to the truth, so far.

Not that it matters much, I couldn't care less if it's historically accurate or not, I was happy enough with the fact that, watching it, I was able to forget all Casanova crap I knew before... But, you know, it's a bit funny that something I liked because it was so much different from all previous versions, and because it never hammered us with the "big historical drama" agenda (RTD and no agenda, blasphemy, I know :D), might in fact be more "real" than I thought.
He's brilliant in it isn't he - totally convincing, plus I really believe he ages into Peter O'Toole, I love that casting. DT relishes the role in much the same way as he does the Doctor, I feel, which is probably due to RTD's writing.
Oh, Peter O'Toole, enough of a reason to forgive them those awful blue contact lenses.

Perfect casting choice indeed (and another proof of RTD's brilliant writing), it's not easy to almost steal the whole thing from DT given such limited screen time and (in theory) rather thankless role, and yet it's one of the best parts in the whole thing...
