Malaysian Airlines confirms it is one of their aircraft.

From the youtube video being shown on Sky News now, it doesn't look good for the 295 people on board. Lots of smoke.
Video not verified, but only posted 15 mins ago, just after it was first reported.

From Interfax Agency. If true that's shocking and very bad news.

I'll admit it was the first thing I thought considering the location. A technical crash is bad enough, but shot down is just...>:(

    Damn.

Hope there is some mistake, as if Russia did shoot it down, tensions in the entire area are going to skyrocket.

Ukraine will be a total no fly zone if it was shot down.

Don't expect the Russians to be open about this.

The Lockerbie disaster finished Pan Am off.

Their missing plane and now this won't do Malaysia Airlines any good and they've been losing loads of money as well.

And talk of it possibly being shot down. I was on a flight a few weeks ago from Singapore to London and was just over that region when a military jet came very fast and close to the plane I was on and zoomed off again at high speed!

Possibly Ukraine traffic control thought it was a hostel plane and didn't realise it was a passenger airline. It's serious situation.

It's amazing that international airlines are still using Ukranian airspace considering the shooting that's going on down below.
