Is it the same actress?

Is the actress who plays Edna in Emmerdale the same as one of the women who starred in the drama series 'Widows' from the late 70's,early 80's? (I can't remember the character's name).
I'm convinced it's the same actress but my husband is adamant it isn't. Please, does anyone know the answer?

If you are talking about Dolly Rawlings in Widows, then NO - she was played by Ann Mitchell who definitely does NOT play Edna in Emmerdale - Can't remember that actress's name but I think she was in Brookside at one time ?

No it wasn't Dolly, it was one of the others.

Shirley Stelfox plays 'Edna', brilliant actress. I always thought she should have been the new Miss Marple.
She was the original 'Rose', 'Hyacinth's sister in the mini skirts in Keeping Up Appearances.
