He worked his way up through some of the grungiest clubs and theatres of this country, some places where you had to shout sometimes to be heard over the hecklers and people who just weren't there to see you at all. It's sometimes common to see or hear very old stars doing the same, amplifying their voices on television because they are so used to having to do it in theatres and they have the habit.

Yes, he spent many years on the old club circuit, Lily Savage, panto, etc. He wouldn't have survived long by being a shy and retiring wallflower!!

I really like Paul. He's a very hard working person (which may come to a surprise to some) but I read his first two books and was shocked at the amount of jobs he has done. As he's mother said '' I don't understand why one minute your working as a loo attendent and the next in a childrens home''. :D

    Shout!

I hope your not inferring that The Vauxhall tavern is grungy!

Black Cap maybe but not the Vauxhall or should as it should be pronounced the "Vozaall"

His humor isn't good enough, so he tries and emphasises on his wordings in order to try and make the deliver as humorous as possible.

Thing is, it doesn't work, cause he just comes over as some sort of camp drag queen drunk of their wits.

Because he isnt actually particularly talented, and has to do things like shout etc to try and hide that...

It's weird but has to do with his new prime slot on the pleb channel he's on. Bit self defeating because he made his reputation in something more relaxed.

He doesn't always shout at all. Watch the last episode on ITV player and come back here and tell us he was 'always' shouting. What a load of crap.
